Snow Reporter Comments: Sunday, March 1, 2026Good morning! The sunrise is looking beautiful this morning even though it is getting earlier each day. We've found ourselves in yet another spring cycle up here, with cold freezing nights and warm sunny days. On most slopes, you'll find firm snow conditions in the morning that will become soft and playful once exposed to the warmer midday sun. In heavily shaded areas, you may still find some packed powder, but expect it to be firm as you go into and out of those zones. On the onset of these early spring cycles, it's always hard to predict when the best riding hours will be, but it always seems to be about an hour or two after you think, so be patient out there. If it's still a little firm maybe have brunch instead of lunch. If second breakfast time is ripping, hold off on that snack and keep shredding. We'll have Summit Central, Summit West, and Alpental running today so you'll have lots of choices. I suspect Central will soften first, then Summit West and then frontside of the upper mountain at Alpental. Lower mountain at Alpental will likely remain firm the longest but also will have the best chance at some preserved chalky, packed powder zones. It's going to be a sunscreen and sunglasses type of day here, which always makes for good vibes! So have a good one and I'll see you all out here. --RyanThin Cover - Use Extra Caution Take it easy out there! Coverage is still thin on the mountain. Always look ahead, moderate your speed, and watch for marked and unmarked hazards, including abrupt depressions and openings in the snowpack.Spring Retail SaleStop by any of our open retail outlets and save up to 40% on some of your must-have gear!
