Seattle is a gateway to many Pacific Northwest ski resorts. The Summit at Snoqualmie, dubbed Seattle’s home mountain, is just an hour away, while Stevens Pass, part of the Epic Pass, is 80 miles away. Further afield are Crystal Mountain, Washington’s largest ski resort, and Mt. Baker. However, while Seattle is a short drive to a number of Washington ski areas, it’s also convenient to some of America’s top ski destinations. In the time that it would take to pack your car, fill your car with gas, and drive to a Washington ski resort, you could take a non-stop flight to any number of great ski destinations. This is particularly a no-brainer on a powder weekend or holiday weekend, when you could be sitting in Seattle traffic for hours.

Need to Know Information
It’s no secret that a ski trip can often take a little bit more planning and preparation. And that’s particularly the case when flying into a smaller destination or regional airport, like many of the flights listed above. As such, we recommend booking your flights as far in advance as possible. In some cases, ski destinations may only have one flight per day, with those weekend flights filling up months in advance.
Additionally, there may not be the ground transportation and rideshare accessibility and availability in these ski destinations as major cities. One of the perks of flying in and out of Seattle, however, is that there’s such great transportation options. As we mentioned above, the Link Light Rail has a station at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, making it easy to get to the airport from Capitol Hill, Downtown Seattle, Chinatown, SoDo, and a number of other Seattle neighborhoods. It’s a 38-minute ride from Downtown Seattle to Sea-Tac. The closest Amtrak station is about 5 miles away at Tukwila. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is also served by several Sound Transit and King County Metro buses.
