Snow Reporter Comments: Last updated: Tuesday, January 6 at 6:30AMGood morning! We had a productive night of snowmaking, and conditions allowed the crew to get good coverage. The plan is to continue running snow guns as long as possible today at Snow Summit, carrying through opening. The plan is to open Snow Summit today with Chairs 1 and 8 spinning for skiers and snowboarders from 9AM–4PM today. Two terrain park features are currently open on Upper Summit Run, including a ride-on box and a tube. Grizzly Ridge Tube Park is projected to open this Friday, January 9. In the meantime, head over to Snow Valley for the Coyote Creek Tube Park and snow play fun.The weather looks mostly cooperative, with dry conditions and temperatures near normal for this time of year which is great for snowmaking. Expect mostly cloudy skies, afternoon highs in the mid 40s, and southwest winds between 10 and 20 mph. Tomorrow, a weak storm system passing to our south could bring a few light rain or snow showers, though any precipitation looks minimal at this time and snow levels are expected to remain near or above 7,000 feet. Conditions may change, but by Thursday the system is expected to move out, bringing a return to dry weather and near normal temperatures through next weekend.Roads are currently open with no snow chain restrictions expected today on CA 330, CA 18 through Running Springs, and CA 18 through Lucerne Valley, though conditions can change at any time. We cannot predict future road or weather conditions, as we do not manage or control them, and all information is based on observed conditions from SoCalMtns.com. Please note that CA 38 will be under a full closure from Mill Creek Road to Hills Ranch Road Monday through Friday from 7AM to 5PM. The road will reopen nightly from 5:01PM to 6:59AM and will be fully open on weekends.
