Snow Reporter Comments: Last updated: Sunday, January 18 at 6:10AMNo changes from yesterday's daily mountain report. It’s MLK Weekend at Snow Summit, and while this season has had its challenges, the holiday energy is strong and the mountain is buzzing with activity. We’re making the most of what we have with longer operating hours, Night Sessions tonight, and plenty of reasons to stay on the hill from first chair to last lap. Chairlifts are spinning from 8:30AM to 8:30PM, giving guests extra time to enjoy a full day of turns capped off under the lights.Today's forecast call for unseasonably warm and dry conditions will persist through today as offshore flow continues. Temperatures will remain well above normal, with mostly clear skies and highs reaching the mid to upper 50s. Northeast winds will continue at 5–15 mph, with stronger gusts possible in passes and canyon areas. A transition back to onshore flow is expected early next week, bringing a very gradual cooling trend. Highs are forecast to fall from the upper 50s around the MLK holiday to the lower 50s by late week, with overnight lows generally in the 30s.On the terrain front, Chair 7 opened on Friday, providing access to 7 Down and Upper Low Chute. These areas are intended for advanced riders only, and beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders are not recommended on these trails. Snow Summit currently has 13 total park features, with 4 features off Zzyzxx and 9 features off Upper Westridge, keeping the park scene active through the holiday. For guests looking to explore both resorts, the free intermountain shuttle is running today from 10AM to 5:30PM, offering easy transportation between Snow Summit and Bear Mountain. Shuttles depart Snow Summit on the hour and half-hour, and Bear Mountain on the quarter-hour and three-quarter-hour, making it simple to move between mountains during the busy holiday weekend.Holiday fun continues off the snow with Biggie’s appearance from 12PM to 4:15PM. Stop by this den located in the base area across from the Sports Shop to get a photo.Parking reminders are in effect for the holiday weekend. Daily paid parking is $40 in the upper lots, while free parking is available in remote lots with shuttle service. Season pass holders should note that base area parking at Snow Summit and Bear Mountain is not free; to avoid the fee, please park in offsite lots and ride the free shuttle, or choose to pay for closer parking. Guests are encouraged to follow all onsite signage for the smoothest arrival. Finally, the Darn Tough Sock Sale is running through MLK Day in support of our partners at Darn Tough. From Friday, Jan. 16 through Monday, Jan. 19, guests can buy three pairs of Darn Tough socks and get one pair free at Big Bear Sports at Snow Summit.MLK Weekend is all about extra laps, good weather, and making the most of the holiday—day and night.
