Okemo Mountain Resort - Great day at Okemo, good packed powder with powder on some glade trails, lift lines were about 20 minutes at the longest but not terrible for a Sunday.

Okemo Mountain Resort - Conditions where icy with narrow and balding runs. The rain yesterday must have killed any early session fun.

Okemo Mountain Resort - 36 inches of new snow in the past 18 hours! Unfortunately the resort was not ready for it and they only managed to open 2 lifts. This weekend's conditions should be better as they get time to dig out lifts and groom and check
With COVID, the lodges are eat and get out, so be prepared not to rest indoors. Hopefully the cooks will make it in tomorrow, today it was pre-made sandwiches only.

Okemo Mountain Resort - Once again spring conditions today with nice soft snow and no crowds. The mogals were nice and soft today along with most of the glades with the exception of Black Hole. Some patches of dirt in some high traffic and non groomed runs but overall a great day. With over a foot of snow for Thursday, now is the time to get here!

Okemo Mountain Resort - Great conditions out there today with everything open. Soft snow towards the bottom with firmer stuff up top. Very little ice, even the glades were pretty good with soft snow and plenty of coverage. Crowds died down around noon and it was empty by two in the afternoon.

Okemo Mountain Resort - Deepest day of east coast riding I've had in my 15+ years out there. 20" on the upper mountain. It snowed all day too, there will be plenty of freshies to be had tomorrow. Get it early!

Okemo Mountain Resort - Sat 4/15 - Okemo is my favorite mountain and they did a great job yet again this year. So thanks to everyone there for a great year, and especially the snowmakers and the groomers. Their grooming is just hands down the best, and they always have the best conditions in Southern Vermont as a result.
If you are going there for their closing day on Easter, they have tons of snow left. Jackson Gore was the best with barely any obsticals and faster snow. Just watch out for over the blind ledges on some of the steeper trails as there is some dirt and rocks in places. The snow was a little sticky in the flats, but the trails themselves were not that bad.

Okemo Mountain Resort - Overall good skiing for April. Sluggish on sun exposed areas but better on the sides in tree shadows. Snow from recent storm is melting in earnest, but still plenty left. They closed Solitude mid day. They were doing maintenance on the Sunburst Six stopping the lift for 5 minutes plus per ride. I realize the staff is ready to call it a season and just want to go home, but it would be better if they did lift maintenance after 345 instead of doubling the ride time for those of us that are still skiing.

Okemo Mountain Resort - Sun 5/2 - Never frozen up overnight, so it started like firm mashed potatoes, by 11 it got buttery and then the clouds burned off. It was beautiful mild and sunny, but when it got to around 45 degrees around 1 pm, the powder became as sticky as I've ever seen it. Granular works for warm days, powder doesn't. if you are coming Monday, wax your skis and boards, start early, ski the shadows if it's sunny, and only hit glades and steep trails when it starts sticking. The morning was pretty awesome, the afternoon was a slog. Glades were all open and outstanding with few obsticals, but you probably won't see them open again until December after tomorrow. Coverage is wall to wall everywhere, and for bump skiers, probably as good as it gets where umgroomed.

Okemo Mountain Resort - Great day in slopes especially finding huge powder stashed. No lines!

Okemo Mountain Resort - Tue 3/14 - The snow was very fine most of the day and is firm-ish, not the type of stuff you sink deep into, but it's pushy and not the wet type of firm. Winds were howling in the top 1/5 of the mountain and blowing off the surface in places, but the lower 4/5 was all there. Places like Solitude were deepest due to the lower place in the mountain. South face looked untracked due to the snow and wind resurfacing the trails. There were wind waves though in places.
Gotta give it to Okemo for keeping all but 1 regular lift going in blizzard conditions. Jackson Gore bubble shut down due to mechanical issues in the afternoon. Nearby another mountain only had one top lift yet again for a powder day. Okemo is also opening an hour early tomorrow as a treat. Big kudos for the effort, and that's why I keep coming back.

Okemo Mountain Resort - The soft snow has gone back to being hard packed with the dropping temperatures. Conditions are solid for this time of year. It was a great week for us.

Okemo Mountain Resort - Sat 2/25 - Wow, what a difference a week makes. Warm today and the surface was a mix of mashed potatoes, granular, and a little bit of chunk, not the typical Spring surface...and it's still February of course. it's good enough above freezing for now to hit it, but the top 1/4 of the mountain is starting g to show a lot of the granite obstacles that typically appear in late March. Let's hope the keep those compressors around for an extra week because the bottom 3/4 of the mountain has plenty of snow, but the top won't last much longer without some help. For now it's fine. In days below freezing there will be some large ice patches due to the massive amount of melting that they have had. Let's hope their groomers and snowmakers can work their magic and extend things into mid April. Same goes for probably everywhere else in the Northeast. Fingers crossed.
