I read that getting to Tahoe was bad on the internet, but my experience was so much worse that I thought it would be. Perhaps weekdays are better, but I went skiing Saturday and Sunday and both days could not have started off worse. We did not get a parking pass for Saturday, so we parked in Truckee thinking that taking the bus in would be a good idea, it was not until 10 that we saw the first bus and it fit maybe 30 people (there were probably 200 or so in line waiting) so I strongly recommend just getting a parking pass. On Sunday we did get a parking pass and knowing traffic would be bad, planned to be there an hour before open, we still sat in traffic for an hour on 28. I suppose you could circumvent this by just staying up there on the mountain, but when you I'm already paying almost $300/day for lift tickets, this was not practical.
After my rough starts to the days, the experience on the mountain was awesome! TONS of skiable terrain and you can find whatever you like: steeps, trees, and groomers they got it, and lots of it! Despite the crowds getting up to the mountain, lift lines were pretty short which was a relief. I personally felt like the beginner terrain was a bit lacking (not a lot of interesting greens imo), but for intermediate skiers and beyond, there is so much there that it took me 2 days to feel like I saw more than half the mountain. Despite the steep price of tickets, the drinks were pretty much on par with what you would pay in town, and there are quite a few places to get them based on what vibe you're going for.
All of that to say, getting up there is a pain, but if you just push though it, you will be rewarded. For me, for the pain of getting up there and the steep price of tickets, probably not a place I would go back to all by myself unless it was a weekday.
