Snow Reporter Comments: Today at Dinner Plain
23 Aug 2026 – It's a fine, sunny morning at Dinner Plain after a frosty start, with clearing skies and light winds through the day. There's no snow to report though — natural cover sits at zero, and it's been eleven days since the last proper snowfall.
The Cobungra Platter ski slope is closed, and tobogganing on Peashooter has wrapped up for the season, with the slope fenced and signed off as unsafe to use. Anyone chasing a slide can hop on the bus from stop 12 over to Wire Plain at Hotham instead. Cafe Play on the ski slope has also shut for the season with no snow to justify staying open.
The village itself is very much open for business — retail, food and beverage outlets welcome a visit, and the walking tracks around Dinner Plain are in good shape if you want to stretch your legs. Grab a free map from the DP Hut, let someone know your plans, and pack warm layers, water and a phone. On the roads, both the Harrietville and Omeo approaches are open, though one-way traffic remains in force on Big Muster Drive between Halter Lane and the Roundabout, and chains should be carried and ready to fit between Harrietville and Omeo.
