Nestled in the Selkirk Mountains above Sandpoint, Schweitzer is Idaho's largest ski resort, offering expansive views of Lake Pend Oreille and the surrounding mountain ranges. The resort receives an average of about 300 inches (762 cm) of natural snowfall each year, helping to create reliable winter conditions throughout the season. With 2,900 acres of skiable terrain, 10 lifts, and 92 trails, Schweitzer caters to a wide range of abilities. Its terrain is divided into 10% beginner, 40% intermediate, 35% advanced, and 15% expert, giving everyone from first-time skiers to experienced riders plenty of options to explore. Families will find dedicated beginner areas, a ski and snowboard school, and a welcoming village with ski-in/ski-out lodging, restaurants, shops, and activities beyond skiing, including tubing. One of Schweitzer's standout features is that every chairlift provides access to at least one intermediate run, making it easier for groups with mixed ability levels to ski together.
