Located in Silverton, Colorado, and opened in 2002, Silverton Mountain is an advanced and expert skier and rider only mountain. One double chairlift accesses 1,819 acres of the steepest and deepest un-groomed powder. An additional 22,000 acres are accessible by hiking and helicopter. All lift tickets during the winter include a guide. In the spring, unguided skiing is allowed.

The unique experience of Silverton is that of an extreme terrain backcountry adventure, and certain times of the season will not allow unguided skiing or snowboarding. Averaging an annual snowfall of 400”+, the resort limits unguided skiers and riders to 475 skiers or less a day to encourage ecological balance. Everyone is required to carry an avalanche beacon, probe pole, and shovel (rentals are available). Guided tours, plus heli-skiing is available. Avalanche training is not required.

Heliskiing

The ability to combine lift accessed skiing and heliskiing is what makes this mountain experience so unique. Make the most of your trip to Silverton by booking heliskiing, which can be booked on top of your lift ticket. If you are looking for an entire day of heliskiing, there is a 6-run heli day package that can also be purchased. This means no hiking necessary.

Go For The Weekend

Silverton Mountain is open to the public from Thursday through Sunday, meaning that a long weekend trip is the best bet. Silverton Mountain offers packages like their 3 Day Consecutive, which includes a free Heli Run, or the Peak Package, which has 2 days of guided skiing and heli runs, and a full 6-Run Heli Day.

We are heading to Silverton in 10 days time, for our 3rd visit in 5 years. We love the place and can't wait to go back. Great terrain, great snow and a great, laid back vibe. The check-in/apres-ski tent, rental gear from an old bus and "music festival toilets" in the car park only add to the charm.…
