A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
I heard so much good and bad about Snowbird, and as an advanced Intermediate, it sounded intimidating. Following advice on this site, I went late season to avoid crowds and arrived at 8 am to find a prime - and free- parking spot. From there it was amazing, I mean really good. The scenery is top notch, with jagged, snow-covered peaks as far as the eye can see. But what I really loved is the variety here. Sure, there is a ton of tough terrain, but the vast majority of the slopes are manageable for an advanced intermediate. Despite critiques below, a ton of runs, including dozens of steep black diamonds are groomed. But if that's not your thing, there are thousands of acres of ungroomed bowls and runs from moderately bumpy to extreme. Mineral Basin is superb, and again manageable for slightly advanced skiers- they groom runs there too. The only downside, for the first time ever I got not one, but two separate comments on my cheap, short skis. This is the only place I have been where anyone cares about your gear! I have skied a lot of top-notch resorts, but this is my favorite, despite a couple of ski-gear snob comments.

Mike on the tram coming down the mountain was extremely rude to my elderly father that was shivering from the cold. When we tried to close a window (unaware we weren’t allowed as there are no signs and nothing was said) he proceeded to yell at us immediately (zero warning) and scowled and grimaced at us as well as making a rude remark under his breath. Horrible treatment and service by him on the tram. Everything else was amazing.

Was there on a Thursday and it wasn’t too crowded and the lift lines were short. I’m an intermediate skier who prefers mostly groomed runs, but even the runs that were listed as groomed were very bumpy. I know it is an extremely popular resort, it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

I was getting on the lift and accidently went to slow ended up getting my skis caught behind my other ski and fell and my ski snapped on the chairlift, After the workers were harrasing me because I fell down and they were touching me without my consent while I was on the floor I am suing... and the people behind me were yelling at me keep in mind they were white they were screaming slurs at me and so much more.

Waiting times are the worst in the continental United States.
Terrain is awesome. Thigh skied out quickly ans there is anbs no crowd control. Extremely expensive. Hard to find parking and now they charge you $50 for valet,$30 for a usually filled lot by the main and $20 near Gadzoom. What a scam.

What a blast I had here. Great snow nice people the bowls help spread everybody out. Each bowl had its own easy lines and challenging lines.
The biggest downside is that the catwalk traverses are extremely narrow and bumpy, and actually scarier than skiing down steeps.

Powder. All natural. Chutes. Steep. Advanced terrain. Not for the faint of heart. Not for partying. Not for families.
Awesome mountain. Shout out to ski patrol.

Went there with my husband and six year old. I’m not sure what the bad reviews about the terrain not being beginner friendly are about. The blues and blacks aren’t any more difficult than anywhere else in the west. My son was able to ski the blacks (we didn’t try double blacks). Everyone was so friendly. I’d highly recommend Snowbird!

Wish they would open peaks six and eight when I was here
