Après-ski often brings to mind images of a village patio, a dingy dive, or craft brewery. But some ski resorts elevate après-ski—quite literally—with their snowcat dinner experiences. As dusk settles over the mountains, snowcats carry guests up secluded slopes for one-of-a-kind culinary adventures that you can’t find just anywhere. It’s the perfect way to cap off a great day on the slopes. Here are our recommendations for where to enjoy snowcat dining experiences at ski resorts across North America.

Where To Experience A Snowcat Dinner

Brundage, Idaho

Brundage’s Dinner After Dark starts off with a beautiful twilight snowcat ride from the mountain’s upper parking lot to the secluded mid-mountain restaurant, the Bears Den. After unloading, guests can enjoy the outdoor fire pit, or cozy up in the intimate mid-mountain yurt before being served a delicious four-course meal and choice of mulled wine or non-alcoholic beverages. Beer and cocktails can be bought for an additional charge. Note that children under the age of 12 are not allowed. Snowcats typically return to the base between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. The experience is $199, plus tax.

Schweitzer, Idaho

Schweitzer’s snowcat dinner combines a one-of-a-kind experience and incredible food and wine set to the backdrop of Idaho’s Selkirk Mountains. The experience begins with guests gathering at the base area to take the Great Escape Quad lift toward the summit. Guests are welcomed with champagne upon arriving to the Sky House before being served the six-course dinner. This offering is 21+, featuring wine pairings curated from Browne Family Vineyards. Following the final course, guests are transported back down the mountain via snowcat and treated to extraordinary night sky views. Tickets are $295 for the February 1 event.

Aspen Snowmass, Colorado

The Cabin snowcat dinner is an extraordinary experience at one of the world’s most iconic ski resorts. Guests meet at the Snowmass Base Village fire pit for a 6 p.m. departure to travel up the mountain to the restaurant, which is tucked in the woods and only accessible after sunset by snowcat. Inside, the atmosphere blends Western and old-world charm as guests enjoy a five-course prix fixe menu. The experience feels intentionally unhurried, giving diners time to settle into the magic of the space and experience. The snowcat returns at 9:30 p.m. Although this offering is open to all ages, the resort recommends it for older children and adults. Tickets are $165 each. While many ski resorts only offer snowcat dining experiences a few times per season, the Cabin Snowcat Dinner is available a number of winter evenings each month through March.

Enjoy a decadent four-course prix fixe menu, as well as fondue and snacks upon arrival. The experience is $275 per adult. Find out more and book reservations on Aspen Snowmass’ website.

Purgatory, Colorado

Purgatory’s Snowcat Dining Excursion swaps the buzz of the base area for a true high‑alpine escape—quiet, scenic, and just adventurous enough to feel like you’ve snuck onto the slopes after hours. After checking in, guests load into an enclosed snowcat for a quiet, easy-going climb toward the Powderhouse, located at 9,000 feet. At the top, guests indulge in a five‑course dinner crafted by the resort’s Executive Chef, paired with curated wine or beer selections. Tickets are $250 each, and this event is 21+. Puragatory’s snowcat dining events are scheduled on select evenings during the winter when guests can experience the mountain by the light of a full moon.

Big Sky, Montana

At Big Sky Resort, snowcat dinners pair a touch of winter adventure with cozy alpine dining. The experience begins with a 15-minute snowcat ride from Mountain Village through the forests below Lone Peak, delivering guests to a secluded, lantern-lit yurt in the woods. Inside, a wood-burning stove and live acoustic guitar create a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere that makes the evening feel like a special getaway from the resort. The Montana Dinner Yurt experience features a three‑course meal—French onion soup, filet mignon with sides, and warm Toblerone fondue for dessert—served family‑style in the glow of the yurt. The experience is $249 per person. After dinner, guests can step outside to stargaze or gather around the outdoor fire before the snowcats return back to the village.

Whistler Blackcomb, British Columbia

A winter night at Whistler Blackcomb becomes something extraordinary with the Crystal Hut Mountain Top Fondue experience. Guests ascend Blackcomb Mountain in a heated snowcat, slipping into the quiet of the high alpine as the village lights disappear below. The journey ends at the Crystal Hut—a rustic, lantern‑lit cabin perched at 6,000 feet—where the evening unfolds with a chef’s take on traditional cheese fondue, served with freshly baked bread, charcuterie, roasted potatoes, and pan‑seared sausages. The grand finale is the hut’s beloved Belgian waffle piled with berries, chocolate, and whipped cream. Live music from local performers adds to this extraordinary experience. Tickets are $319 per person.
