Nestled high inside the eastern rim of the Southern Alps is Mt. Hutt Ski Area, overlooking the patchwork quilt of the Canterbury Plains with the blue Pacific Ocean in the far distance.
Mt. Hutt has plenty of adrenaline-pumping black diamond runs on the South Face, and lots of wide open terrain for first-time skiers. Snowmaking starts as early as mid-May.
Mt. Hutt offers terrain for all skier and snowboarder ability types. Known for being one of the largest ski areas in New Zealand; Mt. Hutt also has some of its best snow. The ski field prides itself on consistently having one of the longest ski seasons in the Southern hemisphere.
Terrain is available for all levels of skiing and riding. Intermediate skiers are greeted with long sweeping runs and some steep pistes. Mt. Hutt also features world class terrain parks including a FIS certified half pipe.
