Mount Cheeseman or Cheeseman is a friendly, family-oriented, affordable resort located on the South Island of New Zealand. Just 90 minutes away from Christchurch, in the Canterbury region, Cheeseman is a New Zealand club ski field that is open to the public and provides a friendly inviting atmosphere.
Mt. Cheeseman is popular among families and beginners but advanced skiers and snowboarders will find adventurous off-piste terrain with minimal effort to access.
Mt. Cheeseman is located in a south easterly facing bowl. It is made up of two halves, the groomed piste and the ungroomed that has Mt Cockayne at the top and Powder Valley. The groomed area is mostly intermediate terrain, there is a small but good beginner’s area, and plenty of off-piste steeps which can be hiked to.
Cheeseman is home to multiple lodges that offer on-mountain accommodation options. Group bookings are welcomed and can be rented out year round. Ski and snowboard hire and rentals are available. Group and private lessons are also available.
