Overview

Located in New York’s Northern Catskills, approximately 150 miles north of New York City and 50 miles south of Albany, Windham Mountain resort is known as a family-friendly resort offering an authentic ski experience and spectacular views in the Northeast region.

Windham Mountain resort is an excellent summer destination as well, offering a variety of events and activities, including mountain biking at the Windham Mountain Bike Park and golfing at the Windham Country Club. There are a few lodging options at Windham Mountain.

Where Is Windham Mountain Ski Resort Located?

Windham Mountain is located one hour away from Albany, New York, and about two hours from New York City. The resort works with tour operators if you want to get to there by bus. The Adirondack Trailways runs from New York’s Port Authority to the Windham bus stop. If you wish to travel by train, Amtrak runs between New York’s Penn Station and Hudson, New York, which is a 40-minute drive to Windham Mountain. Car rentals are available.

Winwood, The Mountan Inn (one mile from Windham Mountain), was recently renovated and upgraded and offers hotel rooms and condos. Approximately 1,500 beds located within a 10-mile radius of the resort.

Terrain

Terrain

Featuring 97% snowmaking, Windham Mountain offers 54 trails spread across 285 acres of skiable terrain that’s accessed via 12 lifts. Windham Mountain’s summit elevation of 3,100 feet (base elevation 1,500 feet) provides 1,600 feet of vertical. Night skiing is available on 45 acres/6 trails. The longest run is 2.37 miles.

With six terrain parks, freestylers of all abilities can take advantage of the over 80 features. Beginners should head straight for the Wraparound Park with its smaller features. Intermediates can practice their skills at Whirlwind and Warpath Parks. Wilbur and the Jib Parks are where you’ll find the largest features. The resort also has a Boardercross Course, but it’s only open a short time during the season.

Inside Scoop

Tuning and repair services are available on the mountain, and large groups can take advantage of special rates. Lessons and programs are available for skiers of all levels and ages, including a program specifically designed for adults 50 and older, and terrain-based learning programs. Thirty-minute private lessons are available for children at least 3 years old and an hour-long session for children at least 4 years old. Snow tubing is available at the Windham Adventure Park as well as ice skating and snowmobile programs for kids.
