While January, February and March are touted as the months to hit the mountains, sometimes skiers get lucky with snow that keeps on coming and a season pass that keeps on giving as resort closing dates inch ever closer to summer. This is one of those seasons.

Sure, you've got to watch yourself at the base to keep from hurling over your skis stuck back in the slush. But isn't that a small price to pay for a seamless drive to and from that untouched summit powder, courtesy of all those who hung up their skis and brought out the bikes?

We think so. Especially given all the happenings at ski resorts this time of year. Hunting for a fun Easter weekend for the family? Your local mountain has you covered, with spring skiing deals and events before and after then, too. Better yet, there's snow to spare. So get up there!

> Squaw Valley hosts a series of Easter events for all ages, from a nondenominational, mountaintop service to an egg hunt and pool party.

Northstar California also has an egg hunt around the village, plus photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny, live music, jelly bean contest and more to do that day.

> With recent snow that's more than made up for a dry season, Mammoth Mountain will stay open at least through Memorial Day and possibly beyond, with next season's pass good for skiing until they call it quits for 2014.

> Skiers who purchase the Whistler Blackcomb season pass or EDGE Cards for next year can add on spring perks for this season.

> Springtacular Passes will keep you on the slopes of Mt. Bachelor until almost June for $179.

Crystal Mountain Resort in Washington has extended spring skiing, wrapping up its regular season on April 20, Easter Weekend with plans to run the lifts on weekends into late May. Buy their 2014-15 season pass for free skiing now.

> Alta in April is going strong right now with community events and cheap ski packages the entire month.

Spring Back to Vail is packed with free concerts, pond skimming championships, après after-dark parties and swag giveaways for skiers and snowboarders who go at it until closing day, April 20.

Arapahoe Basin will be hoppin' on Easter morning with its annual Beach 'n Egg Hunt. In May, don't miss the Shakin' at the Basin concert series.

Snowmass goes out with a Schneetag bang on April 20, where teams of four create a sea-worthy craft that can also shoot down a ski slope. And with "conditions just too good not to go skiing," according to Aspen Skiing Company's Rich Burkley, VP mountain operations, Aspen Mountain extends the season, reopening for the weekends of April 26-27 and May 3-4.

> Winter Park's powder-aplenty called for a season extension to April 27th, with Springtopia, the Coca-Cola Spring Splash and the Golden Bunny Classic Candy Hunt and Fun Race to enjoy in the meantime.

> Closing weekend at Copper Mountain was originally slated to coincide with Sunsation Weekend, April 19-20, with festivities that include a color run, a shred circuit, live music and an Easter egg hunt. But wait, there's more! Feet and feet of snow will give skiers and riders one more shot at Copper this season when it reopens for a final April 25-27 weekend.

Minnesota’s Lutsen Mountains will be open at least through Easter Sunday, with a Long Weekends Package to make matters even better.

> Michigan’s Boyne Mountain and the Easter Bunny have a date with destiny that makes for one great weekend for kids of all ages April 18-20. Plan your stay around Boyne’s spring Ski & Stay package and save up to 90 percent.

> Michigan’s Marquette Mountain is one of many Midwest ski areas still with plenty of snow and is hosting skiers and boarders for at least one more weekend.

With skiing and riding expected into May, there's plenty of time left to hit Killington, which means more calendar dates are filled with celebratory spring events.

> Sunday River has it all for Easter, with a sunrise service, egg hunt, Easter Bunny and Eddy and Betty Yeti hang time, Easter brunch... and, oh yeah, skiing and riding.

It's rare enough to ski on Easter, but in the Northeast, it's almost unheard of to surf. Almost. At Jay Peak, go for one epic season-end vacation between April 1 and May 3 at a 15 percent savings.
