Reviews for Winterplace Ski Resort
A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
My family and I vacation here often. This is the first year they closed early, at 4pm on two of our full days of planned skiing. With four teenagers in our group that like to sleep in the morning, that did not go over well at all. I really like the family atmosphere at Winter Place and the cabin we stayed in. But with the new ownership closing the resort early during the week, we may choose some where different next year. So if you are planning to ski day and night, plan to go Thursday through Monday. Overall, Winter Place Ski Resort is very nice. Just pray for Mother Nature to cooperate and send snow. I hope this review helps families plan their vacation. ... Full Review
We went recently, snow was great, Mother Nature has been working with us. People were nice. They enforced the wearing of masks and we felt very safe. Awesome!... Full Review
I like Winterplace very much but felt very unsafe today. I've not seen so many people unmasked since before Covid. Nothing was being enforced. Other resorts have staff at the lift lines to help enforce safety protocol. I'd say at least half of the folks in line for the lift either had no masks or had pulled them down completely. I mentioned this to the lift attendants several times. They were not concerned. We were packed together. I saw quite a few people walking around inside unmasked as well. Their website says that masks are required but this is in no way being enforced at Winterplace. ... Full Review
This place is reluctant to open their advanced runs because they are all in an upper bowl area. If you are an advanced skier or snowboarder you are better off to commit to the extra drive / two lanes roads to get to Snowshoe... Full Review
We came here for a family holiday. The staff has been very unfriendly and rude! First and last time to come here.... Full Review
We came Christmas holiday to have a special week. We had a great time overall, but they messed up our ski lift tickets , which resulted in over paying for the kids and ski school. Staff was unfriendly when we tried to understand the charges posted to our credit card! Not coming back!... Full Review
i loved when with my friend and were had a blast... Full Review
Took my husband and kids for Christmas week for their first time in the slopes. The skiwee school was terrific as were the other lessons. All the staff from the instructors to the lift operators and rental shop staff were super nice. There was fresh made snow. It wasn’t too crowded though they said it would be three times more crowded after Christmas. We had a good time. ... Full Review
My home area only 1 hr away. Good variety of runs and laid out where you can split up with ski buddy a few runs and easily meet up again without digging out your phone. I also have never experienced rudeness from any staff there as some have mentioned, quite the opposite very nice. Good variety of runs but you will encounter lots of folks in over their heads, wedges on a black diamond type thing. I never go on the weekends during prime time, just way too crowded, but nights and weekdays are great and they have very good lighting. Lastly, you can link trails and get longer runs, one is over a mile.... Full Review
Conditions were great last weekend. NO crowd on Friday night. Temps got close to 50 on Saturday so top layer started to melt before refreezing later Saturday afternoon. You could see some ice glistening from the lifts but not enough to be a problem.
Great resort for beginner/intermediate skiers and boarders. If you're advanced, it's not very challenging. I found the blue runs to be too easy, and I'm a once-a-year overweight middleaged mom :). The blacks are truly blues here, but I guess maybe that's to be expected for the location.
A couple of cons: food is yuck, and there's NOTHING nearby to grab a bite. Lodges aren't terribly nice. The lift lines were great until about 5:00 when they closed one lift for some reason. It was backed up (10 minute wait?) until about 6:30.
Workers, with one grumpy exception, were very nice. While there was a bit of a lift wait at one point, the runs were never crowded.
We had a great weekend!... Full Review
