The most convenient airport for reaching Mt. Bachelor is Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM), located about 30 miles northeast of Bend. From there, travelers can rent a car or use shuttle services like the Mt. Bachelor Shuttle, which operates daily during the ski season. For those coming from Portland, the drive takes roughly 3.5 hours via US-26 and OR-97, offering scenic views through the Deschutes National Forest.
Mt. Bachelor provides free parking at the West Village base area and offers complimentary shuttle service from Bend and Sunriver on weekends and holidays. The front side features groomed cruisers and beginner-friendly trails, while the backside opens up to wide bowls and natural glades. Families and beginners will feel at home in the Sunrise and West Village areas, where gentle slopes like Home Run and Marshmallow provide a comfortable learning environment. Intermediate skiers will find a playground of blue trails across the mountain, especially off Pine Marten and Skyliner lifts.
