Whitefish Flight Guide
About Whitefish
The historic town of Whitefish really began to grow in 1905 as an oasis for railroad workers, loggers, and miners with the introduction of the Great Northern Railway. In the decades since, the town has only continued to grow into what it is today. Whitefish is a vibrant town of authentic Montana culture with a great food, drink, and shopping hub. From town, travelers can take the convenient (and free) S.N.O.W. Bus (Shuttle Network of Whitefish) to and from Whitefish Mountain Resort during its winter and summer operations.
Whitefish Mountain Resort has been spinning lifts since 1947. It’s located just 15 minutes from downtown Whitefish and 30 minutes from Glacier Park International Airport. More than 110 trails are served by 11 lifts, 2 T-bars, and 1 magic carpet. Exactly half of its terrain is rated for the advanced or expert skier, which coupled with 333 inches of annual snowfall, makes it a premier skiing and riding destination.
One of the best things about Whitefish is its convenience to Glacier National Park, one of America’s most renowned national parks. Located 27 miles from Whitefish, Glacier National Park encompasses more than one million acres of stunning natural beauty, featuring everything from crystal-clear glacial lakes to hundreds of miles of hiking trails and much more.

Need to Know Information
It’s no secret that a ski trip often takes more planning and preparation. That’s particularly the case when flying into a destination like Whitefish which has a smaller airport and is prone to winter weather. We recommend booking your flights as far in advance as possible. As you’re planning and packing for your trip, consider how you’ll be traveling with your ski gear. Many airlines, including United, American, and Delta (all of which fly out of FCA), count a ski bag and boot bag as 1 checked item so long as they weigh under 50 lbs. combined. For one less thing to think about, consider shipping your skis or snowboard or renting/demoing from one of the many shops in the area.
Finally, no matter where you’re flying, we recommend giving yourself some extra time. Winter weather, traffic, and the time to check ski gear and get through security can all be unpredictable.
