Meteorologist Chris Tomer gives us the run down on where will be the snowiest over the Christmas 2020 Holiday.

The pattern continues to favor the West for the best snow between Wednesday-Sunday with two different storm systems lined-up.  Temperatures in the Northeast look warm and rain could dominate a Christmas Eve/Day storm system.

Pacific Northwest

A large storm system arrives for Christmas then slides into the interior.  Moderate to heavy snow accumulation at the ski areas between Friday and Sunday morning.  Roughly a foot of accumulation from Bachelor to Baker to Whistler/Blackcomb.

Banff Area

Light to moderate accumulation possible Saturday night through Sunday.

Montana, Wyoming, Idaho

A storm system departs on Wednesday with lingering light snow (after a nice dump).  Wednesday is a powder day.  Then a high pressure break until a storm system arrives on Saturday and continues on Sunday.  Moderate to heavy accumulation at Sun Valley, Jackson Hole, Big Sky, Bridger Bowl, Schweitzer, and Whitefish.

California

A storm system arrives late on Christmas and continues into Saturday.  Saturday is a powder day.  Moderate to heavy snow accumulation by Saturday at Tahoe, Squaw Valley, Kirkwood, and Mammoth.  There is a 2nd storm storm system quickly arriving by Sunday night into Monday.  Moderate to heavy snow accumulation.

Colorado, Utah

A storm system departs on Wednesday with lingering light snow then a high pressure break.  Wednesday is a powder day.  Then a high pressure break until a storm system arrives on mid/late Saturday.  Moderate snow accumulation at Snowbasin, Park City, Brighton, Solitude, Snowbird, Steamboat, Aspen/Snowmass, Vail, Winter Park, and Loveland.  Another storm races in by Monday.  This storm looks more significant with heavy accumulation possible.

New Mexico

Taos and Angel Fire look mostly dry between Wednesday and Sunday.

Northeast

A large storm system arrives for Christmas Eve into Christmas Day.  But, temperatures look warm enough for mostly rain at the ski areas then possibly changing to light snow as the storm ends.  Another storm system is possible early next week.

Tomer's Take

On Christmas Day ski the Pacific Northwest for the best chances of new snow, on Saturday ski Tahoe, the Pacific Northwest, or Sun Valley, and on Sunday ski Schweitzer, Jackson Hole, Alta or Snowbird.
