On The Snow meteorologist Chris Tomer's Snow Before You Go forecast for the weekend of December 21-22, 2019.

The heaviest snow this weekend shifts into the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia, and northern California. I'm forecasting 1-3 feet of snow across the higher peaks and volcanoes of Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. I'm also including this heavy snow threat for northern Idaho, northwest Montana, and north into Banff.

A big dome of high pressure will lock the rest of the West into a warm and dry pattern until Christmas week when this Pacific Northwest storm system finally breaks it down.

Tomer's Take for the best snow this weekend:

Ski Whistler/Blackcomb or the high Cascades of Washington on Friday, Schweitzer, Whitefish, or Banff on Saturday, and Banff or Schweitzer again on Sunday.

Looking ahead to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, the Pacific storm system rolls out of California and spreads light to moderate snow accumulations into Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico.  The most snow will fall at Brian Head, Sundance, Alta, Snowbird, Telluride, Wolf Creek, Purgatory, and Silverton.
