Tyax Lodge Heli-skiing (TLH) offers skiers extra bang for their buck if they happen to have legs like a downhill racer. The program at TLH is based on one group per chopper and unlimited vertical skiing with all of their packages.

Situated in the steep Chilcotin Mountains of British Columbia, TLH has tenure reaching into the eastern Coast Range as well. Big mountain lines, long glacier runs, and even the occasional tree and pillow line are all there for the taking. At the end of every run, one of TLH’s Bell 212s waits for you, instead of you waiting for the chopper.

A typical day with unlimited vertical is about ten runs, with a guest record of twenty-five, and an average week of skiing for 2012 ranged from 40,000-55,000 meters, according to TLH’s statistics. Ten guests and two guides are assigned each aircraft in the morning, so if you assemble nine of your fastest, strongest ski buddies, you will be in for one serious heli-ski trip.

A newly renovated lodge has a sleek feel, and a fireside dining room and bar round it out as a cozy base. On down days, or to work the lactic acid out of your legs from the unlimited vertical beat-down, Tyax lodge offers Canadian pastimes like Nordic skiing, ice-skating, hockey, ice fishing, and snowmobiling.

TLH also offers combo tours to fit into a Whistler Blackcomb ski vacation.
