Jeremy Davis, founder of the New England Lost Ski Areas Project, called the other day to remind us that Christmas is coming.

"Our 2011 NELSAP Calendars are now available," Davis said.

"[R23R, Ascutney] and [R458R, Tenney Mountain] are featured in the calendar as they are now at least temporarily closed. We hope they can reopen in the next few years," he said.

He's not alone in that wish.

However, closed they are this season, along with scores of other areas, many of them remembered in a variety of NELSAP gifts.

The calendars cost $20.

Davis started NELSAP while a college student, a decade ago. It mushroomed into one of the most popular ski area history sites in the world, with thousands of followers devoted to the minutiae of ski lore.

The selection of gifts reflects this interest.

Coffee mugs cost $13.50 to $14.99, and include ones from Mittersill, Thorn Mountain, and Tyrol, N.H., and NELSAP itself .

A framed print of Snow Valley, Vt., costs $40, and is among the most expensive items.

A Happy Land, Mass., bumper sticker costs $6.50, and is the least expensive item.

Other offerings include T-shirts, note cards, posters and photographs.

Davis also reminded us that his two books, Lost Ski Areas of the White Mountains, and Lost Ski Areas of Southern Vermont, are available online as well. Each costs $19.99.
