Grab a Gold Pass to spend the winter on a variety of mountains throughout the state of Colorado. The Gold Pass is actually a gold medallion that you wear around your neck. It has a bar code on the back that is scanned in the lift line. It is one of the few ski passes that is transferable, so you can share it with family, friends, and co-workers.

Colorado Ski Country USA (CSCUSA) offers the pass and the trade association's spokesperson Jennifer Rudolph says purchasers are largely repeat customers every season.

"Besides access to 21 ski areas, Gold Pass holders enjoy the transferability of the pass, which besides being a nice perk, makes the pass very flexible for a variety of users." she told Another benefit of the Gold Pass is that there are no blackout dates. It is good every day of the season.

Rudolph adds only 100 Gold Passes are available at a cost of $3,000 each, and sales have been steady this year. "Gold Passes are available every season starting late summer and through the fall until we run out, but the catch is, we only have a limited number of them to sell."

The Gold Pass is good at only at CSCUSA member resorts. You can ski your heart out at [R25R, Aspen]'s four resorts, [R425R, Steamboat], [R113R, Copper], [R120R, Crested Butte], [R507R, Winter Park], and all of the smaller "Gems of Colorado." However, the pass cannot be used at [R482R, Vail], [R36R, Beaver Creek], [R77R, Breckenridge], [R197R, Keystone], or [R1435R, Silverton], as those resorts are not part of the association.
