The ski resort with the top average score (on a scale of 1 to 5) in each category, and a minimum number of entries, receives the award. Visitors then ranked them in five categories: Overall Favorite, Best Nightlife, Most Family-Friendly, Best Downhill Terrain, and Best Terrain Park.

"User-generated content is a very powerful and effective way Web visitors have to communicate with each other," said Mountain News Corp. President and Publisher Rob Brown. "Skiers and snowboarders are relying on the word of their peers when they make resort choices."

On top of the black diamonds, you can see awesome scenery for miles..." "The runs were well-groomed and my family did not encounter any icy spots. The people are very friendly and helpful."

Massanutten Resort in winter means days spent on a 1,100-foot vertical drop with great views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Ski down the 3,300- foot Diamond Jim or the 4,100-foot Para-dice. The terrain park is for riders, skiboarders, and twin tip skiers. All of the slopes are lit at night.
