Where Is Windham Mountain Club Located?
Windham Mountain Club is located one hour away from Albany, New York, and about two hours from New York City. If you wish to travel by train, Amtrak runs between New York’s Penn Station and Hudson, New York, which is a 40-minute drive to Windham Mountain and local car rental options are available.
Windham Mountain is located in the northern Catskills of New York, just over two hours from New York City and under an hour from Albany. Drivers can reach the resort via Exit 21 on I-87/New York State Thruway, followed by a 23-mile drive west on Route 23W. The road is well-maintained year-round, and GPS navigation to 19 Resort Drive, Windham, NY 12496 will take you directly to the base area. Free parking is available at multiple lots, with designated areas for day visitors and overnight guests. Ski-in/ski-out access is available from select accommodations, and the resort’s layout makes it easy to move between lodging, lifts, and dining without a vehicle.
For public transport, Adirondack Trailways operates bus service from New York City’s Port Authority to the Windham bus stop. Guests staying at the Winwood Inn and Condominiums can arrange for complimentary shuttle pickup from the stop. Amtrak also offers daily service from NYC’s Penn Station to Hudson, NY—about a 40-minute drive from the resort—with rental cars available through Enterprise, which provides station-side pickup. Charter coach services like OvRride and Comfort Ski offer round-trip packages from NYC, including lift tickets and onboard amenities. Ride-sharing services are available locally, and the resort’s guest services team can assist with private transfers if needed.
Featuring 97% snowmaking, Windham Mountain Club offers 54 trails spread across 285 acres of skiable terrain that’s accessed via 11 lifts. Windham Mountain Club’s summit elevation of 3,100 feet (base elevation 1,500 feet) provides 1,600 feet of vertical. Freestylers of all abilities can take advantage of six terrain parks. Beginners should head straight for the Mini Park on Lower Wraparound and Whistler Park on Lower Whistler with their smaller, more accessible features. Intermediates can practice their skills at Whirlwind and Warpath Parks.
Tuning and repair services are available in The Shop located in the lodge. Lessons and programs are available for skiers of all levels and ages. Half-Day, Full-Day, and Two Hour private lessons are available for skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels, as well as group lessons, and Windham Mountain Kids programming with Half-Day and Full-Day options for children ages 3 to 12. Snow tubing is available at the Tubing Park, located a quarter of a mile down the road on South Street.
Friday was a real surprise in that there was the best snow of the year and no lines. Astounding grooming in that the trails that were groomed had not an ice patch.
