I have skied Colorado (Copper is my fav), Utah, and Montana resorts and found Angel Fire to be competitive terrain and snow. I have two main questions: Do you want to stand in line or do you want to ski? Do you want to save money? Angel Fire is no-frills, but you will get a great ski day in and you won't have to spend time in line or crazy money. Since you will likely be traveling by car to the resort, there are a bunch of really nice houses on AirBnb & VRBO in the area very close to the ski hill, plus quite a few condos. Angel Fire does lack a cute downtown space for evenings (its a bit spread out, but there are fun places to go). My family tends to prefer to go back to our house or condo and enjot card games and movies anyway. This town is really about the people and they seem to absolutely love it!!
