Base Lodge Regulation

  • All guests must wear a face covering when inside any Shanty Creek building, in-line for a chairlift, and riding on the chairlift, as well as maintaining 6’ social distancing guidelines.

  • We ask that the day lodge areas not be used for long term seating. Please warm up, enjoy your brown bag meal and then head back to the slopes as soon as possible. 

  • Space is extremely limited in these areas. Please utilize your vehicle or hotel room if possible.

Lift Regulations

  • All guests must wear a face covering when inside any Shanty Creek building, in-line for a chairlift, and riding on the chairlift, as well as maintaining 6’ social distancing guidelines.

  • Regarding uphill capacity:
    • Skiers and snowboarders that arrive together should ride together.
    • Two singles may be permitted on opposite sides of a four-person lift.
    • Lift attendants will not require guests to ride with people that they do not know.

  • Current Michigan Executive Orders do not permit indoor dining at this time. 

  • The following dining options are available for our patrons:
    • Schuss Village
      • Ivan's: An all-new pick-up window has been added for both food and drinks (located behind Ivan's). A heated tent and additional outdoor seating have been added.
      • Base Camp: Enjoy our all-new food truck, which will be parked near the Yellow Chairlift. Additional seating will be available nearby in the Base Camp Lodge.
      • Day Lodge Brown Bag Area: avialable for bring-your-own-picnic and crock pot patrons. Seating is EXTREMELY limited and is intended for quick snack/food breaks.

    • Cedar River Village
      • Online/Mobile ordering will be avilable from the River Bistro, with a curbside pickup option also available.

    • Summit Village
      • coffeeBAR proudly serving Starbucks will be available for grab-and-go coffee and light breakfast and lunch options.
      • Online/Mobile ordering will be avilable from The Lakeview Restaurant, with a curbside pickup option also available.

Ski School Regulations

  • The Ski School registration desk and setup space will move to The Boardman on the lower level of The Lodge of Cedar River to reduce congestion with other ski operations.

  • Ski School will not offer the SuperTots program (3-4 year olds). Private 1-on-1 lessons are encouraged as an alternative for toddlers.

  • There will be no full-day ski school classes.

  • Ski School “class sizes” will be reduced to a max of six (6) participants per session.

  • Each student's temperature will be taken before taking their lesson.

Ski Rental Regulations

  • Guests will be encouraged to schedule their rental equipment in advance online so they can be pre-paid for touchless transactions, and pre-set for easy pickup (or in-room delivery for lodging guests).

  • Our largest ski rental facility is at The Lodge of Cedar River. It will be expanded and reconfigured for improved traffic flow.

  • There will not be DAY OF ski rental operations at Summit Village or the Day Lodge in Schuss Village.

  • Online preset/pre-paid rental equipment will be the fastest option while reducing crowds and long lines. Touchless transaction will be encouraged.   • When you stay with Shanty Creek and reserve your rental equipment in advance online, our ski team will deliver your equipment to your room. Again, this reduces lines and congestion, creates touchless transactions, and improves your time.

Shanty Creek offers 47 trails over two distinctive ski areas. All the tough stuff is on Schuss Mountain. There are Slopeside condos and a popular tube park. Looking for a Midwest thrill ride? Make a run down Kingdom Come with its 450-foot vertical drop.

Located about 80 miles north of Montreal, Mont Tremblant provides visitors with magnificent panoramic views of the Laurentians Mountains. The pedestrian-only village is home to abundant dining, lodging and shopping options. The resort is a great destination for families, and it provides activities other than just skiing and snowboarding.

Where Is Schuss Mountain at Shanty Creek Located?

Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City (TVC) is about an hour from the ski resort. For private pilots, the Antrim County Airport (ACB) is an option, being four miles from Shanty Creek. There are free shuttle services between the three villages.

Shanty Creek offers 53 trails over 3 distinctive villages: Summit, Schuss and Cedar River. All the tough stuff is on Schuss Mountain. There are Slopeside condos and a popular tube park. Looking for a Midwest thrill ride? Make a run down Kingdom Come with its 450-foot vertical drop. There are 12 lifts, 400 skiable acres and 175 inches of annual snowfall, bolstered by snowmaking. The summit elevation is 1,125, and the base elevation is 675 feet. The Shanty Creek Resort features five terrain parks, cross-country skiing (three kilometers of groomed trails) and snowshoeing.

Childcare is available at The Lodge for children ages 3 months to 5 years. Fat tire biking rentals are available, or you can take a dogsled ride. Summer activities include golfing, biking, wineries, brewery tours, beaches and more. Equipment rental and lessons are available. Schuss Mountain allows you to ski on a bridge and through a tunnel to get to the chairlift. The Skibra (shuttle with zebra stripes) transports beginners from the parking lot to the beginner slopes.
