Before putting on your skis, check the snow conditions at Rusutsu one last time.
Depth and quality of the snow, date of the last snowfall, today's weather, temperature, wind... all the information you are looking for to have a great day of skiing. Please note Rusutsu snow reports are sourced directly from the ski resort and are only recorded during the official ski season's opening to closing dates.
Located in southwestern Hokkaido, Rusutsu Resort offers expansive terrain and consistent powder conditions that make it one of Japan’s most popular ski destinations. Just under two hours from Sapporo, the resort spans over 500 acres, with an estimated total of over 1,000 acres of skiable terrain, including off-piste areas. There are 37 courses across three interconnected mountains: West Mountain, East Mountain, and Mount Isola. With a vertical drop of 1,949 feet, the terrain is serviced by 18 lifts and caters to a wide range of skier abilities.
Families will find the resort exceptionally easy to navigate, thanks to designated kids’ areas, bilingual ski schools, and indoor activity zones. Dedicated tubing play areas, snow parks, and on-mountain dining with panoramic views help create a family-friendly atmosphere that’s fun both on and off the slopes. Wide open groomers and gentle pitches make West Mountain ideal for newcomers, while access to varied terrain on the East Mountain and Mount Isola allows more experienced skiers to venture further and enjoy off-piste areas.
Rusutsu stands out with its well-designed layout, modern infrastructure, and fresh take on resort accessibility. Ski-in/ski-out lodging, a winter amusement park, and picturesque tree-lined runs combine for a seamless mountain experience. Whether you're traveling with kids, chasing powder, or carving on groomers, Rusutsu offers reliable snow, sweeping views, and an easygoing resort vibe that keeps visitors coming back.
