I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to visit the first three of the resorts on this list just last year in 2023, Steamboat, Telluride, and Breckinridge. Although I’ve been to Breckinridge several times and have only been to Steamboat and Telluride once, I thInk that Telluride is the best Mountain and Ski Town I’ve ever visited thus far and I would love to visit it again and would recommend it to anyone who loves the winter outdoors and skiing.
No waiting in long lines for the lifts
Could use more updated lifts

Trip just after first full snow fall - overall best experience for first time at Telluride. It was an unforgettable 6-day trip! Great lodging, great places to eat and drink, Bon Vivant on the mountain was the ultimate place to be on the mountain! Definitely will be going to Telluride on a regular basis.
Minimal lift lines, many lift and gondola options to get across the entire mountain, friendly staff across mountain, many options for dining
None from our experience

Was at Telluride in 1968 before it was a ski town. Been skiing it since 1996, so I've got to watch it grow up. There is no more breathtaking place to ski. It's always spectacular. Great skiing for all levels. Lift lines at 4,5, and 10 are trafficked mostly at rush hours and light otherwise. Up the mountain there are rarely lines. Usually have sufficient snow. It's a grand place. Great diversity of runs for all levels, as well as great hike-to terrain. Anyone can usually ski any part of the mountain. There seems to be a concerted effort to turn Tride into Aspen or Vail (too bad). Catering to big money has pushed most of the locals and help out into the surrounding area...Norwood, Ridgway, and Rico. Thus, it is hard for the local business to get and keep help, so it has become cumbersome and unreliable. Used to walk in and eat at nearly everywhere with a reasonable wait...not so anymore. We're looking at reservation-only nearly everywhere in town and in Mountain Village. Reservations have to be made weeks ahead most of the time. That's a metro-area vibe - not Telluride's DNA! It's.just.sad! Since COVID, it has become one of the priciest places I've been to. C'mon, Chuck! DO BETTER!
Spectacular, great variety. Reliable snow.
Expensive and not particularly family friendly.

Can't imagine a more beautiful winter resort anywhere on earth. A must visit for skiing aficionados.

Don’t listen to any of the crybaby’s that post bad reviews. I’ve skied nearly 20 resorts out west, many in Colorado and telluride ranks #1. It has amazing terrain, virtually no lift lines outside of peak season, you don’t need to drive anywhere because of the great gondola system, the views are unmatched and between the town and mtn village there is plenty to do on a vacation. Only downfall of this resort is that it’s not the best in the early season in terms of snowfall. The resort tends to get more snow towards the end of January through March. So I would plan your trip during that time if your schedule allows. Just an amazing place.
Great terrain for all skill levels
Wish they got more snow

The resort spans three peaks, one of which is almost all black or above. Access to the other 2 peaks requires riding one of three lifts, creating traffic funnels. Lift 10 was not operational on 2/11 and 2/-12 due to “mechanical” issues. Lifts 4 and 5 were intermittently down also on these weekend days. The base and area facilities are very nice and the town has a cool vibe and many nice dining options. But the mountain operations issues prevent me from recommending this 2022/2023 skiing season.
The base area and town of Telluride have excellent dining options, albeit pricey.
Access to most of the mountain funnels from Mountain village through only 3 lists: 10, 4, and 5. 10 was closed both Saturday and Sunday, 4 closed for 30 minutes on Saturday, and 5 closed for 2 hours on Sunday. All closures resulted from maintenance issue

The #1 US Ski area for me!
There are nsurpassed Mountain views and beauty here beyond other areas that I have seen.. Beautifly constructed homes and buildings. A wonderful free gondola system that connects the town to the resort and villiage areas. The people working and living
Housing costs are high here as in most other ski areas.
