Snow Reporter Comments: Today at Thredbo 20 August 2026 — Strong winds are holding several lifts on standby this morning, with damaging gusts possible and rain falling steadily — snow is limited to above 1900m. It's currently 3°C at the top with winds gusting to 54km/h, and no fresh snow has fallen in the last 24 hours, though the natural depth at Spencers Creek sits at 94cm. Easy Does It Chairlift, Wombats Snow Runner, Easy Rider T-Bar, Syd's Snow Runner and Freddie's Snowsports Snow Runner are running, opening up Syd's Run, Friday Flat, Ballroom, Boundary Riders, High Noon, Playground, Squatters Run, The Bowl, The Cruiser Traverse, Valley View, Waimea and Walkabout, plus a wide spread of terrain over at Crackenback and Central Spur including The Bluff, Bushranger, Eagle Way, Meadows, Rossignol Race Course, Sundowner, Supertrail and World Cup. Mooki's Mini Pipe, Giddy Up, Antons, Upper Squatters Run and Boost Mobile terrain parks are all open too. Merritts Gondola, Kosciuszko Chairlift, Gunbarrel Chairlift, Cruiser Chairlift, Snowgums Chairlift, Karels T-Bar, Basin T-Bar, Antons T-Bar and Sponars T-Bar are on wind hold and on standby pending conditions, with The Burrow Snow Runner closed. Giddy Up, Dream Run, The Schuss, East High Noon and Pegasus are among the closed runs for now. The road to Thredbo remains open. Pack for changeable conditions today — extra layers, waterproof gear and low-light goggles are the call, and keep an eye on the lift and trail status as the wind may shift things through the day.
