We drive 13 hours from the prairies out to the Rockies a couple times a year. I've been to most of the big name resorts in western Canada and Castle is by far my favorite. Epic when it dumps, and fun gromers off huckleberry when it hasn't. ... Full Review

Castle is a hidden gem. Be transported back in time to a place that still holds the spirit of skiing. A place you can pull up and camp in the parking lot. A place that never has a line. A place you can ski 3000 ft of fall line and never see another person. Catch it on a pow day or with some good wind buff and have your mind blown. The skiing is full on and rugged. Great for strong skiers. And the T Bar provides for a cozy place to grab a pitcher and some nachos with your buds. Oh and no cell service, it is wonderful. ... Full Review

skied here last year , missed some good powder days because of lift problems , could only ski lower part of mountain on these days. first day i had out this season had one ride on upper mountain, then that lift broke down for the day. Seemed like the same kind of problem that lift was shut down late in the last season. Makes me wonder if they do any maintenance in the off season. I was going to stay for 2 days but was told that it would be shut down for a couple of days. Then i talked with a friend who had went that next day and the lift was running . so its hit and miss for skiing the best part of the mountain. its not worth the money skiing the lower mountain early season . ... A friendly place that is welcoming to everyone it rarely has any line ups, to wait in a line up for more then 30 seconds is rare even on a weekend. It is home to both a Freestyle club and a Race club both of which have produced national/international champions. Castle is also home to Livingstone Ski Academy(LSA) a more recent addition to Castle. If you can ski Castle then you can ski anywhere in Alberta and BC ... Full Review

If you hit it when a dump happens it is fun and you don't notice the antique equipment, but it can be a long time between snow falls. The snow report is the most creative ever with the much talked about wind. The Chinook winds actually just ruin the snow and shut down the upper lift. Then the hill which is a small area to begin with becomes very tiny. Lift lines can be very large and lifts are prone to breaking down. They will advertise powder when they don't have it and you notice on the drive in on a dusty gravel road it can be obvious it hasn't snowed for weeks. ... Full Review
