For a Wisconsin Hill...a 5 Star! Top Notch Instruction from Experts that will take you to the Mountains!
What sets them apart is ski instruction and steep hills, similar to actual mountains. Our family grew up on this hill and have lots of positive memories. The ski Instuctors for our kids were top notch skiiers..from Gen X (us) to now Z (kids). They were on their game for the kids. In addition, 100% focused on positive affirmation! Our next Gen now loves to ski, as much as us. In addition, they were prepping our family for vacations in the Mountains.
Mom went to the Mountains of New Mexico and found them to be equal match for Sunburst! No area ski hill matched that ability to prepare one for a true mountain.
Thank You Sunburst for seeing the big picture for our family. It wasn't about a hill or single day, we wanted skills for life and diversity. ... Full Review
Tinny area and main run is called 3 runs. No off trail and so many beginners its dangerous. Once again extremely tiny and food is expensive... Full Review
We went tubing over the weekend. Everything was great. The people on staff that day were really nice. The guys working the tubing lanes were a lot of fun. They all deserve raises! :-)... Full Review
Sunburst is a decent ski mound. I did a lot of my skiing here during my first couple of years because of how close it was to where I lived and of their prices. The terrain is pretty good and groomed all of the time. There is a nice variety of runs in terms of difficulty; they have everything from green to double black. Unfortunately it's a very small hill so it doesn't take much time to get from the top to the bottom and what makes it worse is how slow the lifts are. It may take ~3-5 minutes to get to the top and less than a minute to get to the bottom.
Overall it's a decent place to go skiing if you're a beginner and maybe if you're an intermediate but there are better hills in Wisconsin.... Full Review
Sunburst is an average ski hill, with everything from Green Circles to a Double Black Diamond, Holy Moly. Honestly, Sunburst is a nice place, but there is nothing to rave about it.... Full Review
I must admit that this was the first place I ever went snowboarding. It was pricy and that day the conditions weren't great but I had a great time. I think that this was the best learning experience I could have asked for. However now that I have a little experience under my belt I would prefer a mountain about ten times the size of this one. ... Full Review
This resort is the main skiing destination of Milwaukee residents. It is not large. The verticle is like 210' and the longest run is about 1/4 mile. The runs that they do have are relatively good, and are treated great. Because it is so small, they can afford excellent snowmaking and grooming. the chairlifts are slow, double lifts, that have extremely long lines on the weekends. the terrain parks are good, and they have tubing too. Very overpriced lift ticket and food. Still fun. If you live in Milwaukee, the better choice is Alpine Valley. there is better snow, longer runs, cheaper and better food, better lifts, and the lift ticket is only $3 more...... Full Review
I learned to ski at Sunburst before I can remember, it is a very family friendly hill with little kids skiing it all the time.
Its a great hill for being so close to Milwaukee, and with small vertical.
The grooming staff maintains the snow in extremely pristine condition.
With such a large amount of snowmaking, Sunburst is always the first to open, and the last to close in WI.
The lifties are always friendly and willing to help.
The nightlife is rated excellent due to the fact that you can ski until late at night, and then drive home
Overall, a very fun atmosphere.... Full Review
Well I wouldn't call it the best in the west, but it was still tons of fun since I went with all freestyle boarders this trip.
It is pretty small with only, what I can remember 10 or so runs, but for freestyle practice, this was perfect!
The prices were great as well, and we saved some money with such a big group with us.
All in all it was a great trip, and we got a lot of runs in with short lift lines.
Highly recommended for anyone!!... Full Review
