Used to be my favorite resort in Utah. Those days are over.

First it is $20 to pay for parking which wouldn’t be such a problem if they actually had a dependable shuttle service. We walked with little kids to paid parking kiosk which is also a shuttle stop and the first shuttle did not stop although it stopped for people at their cars in the parking lot. The next shuttle did the same thing so we had to walk back into the maze of cars in the parking lot to get on the shuttle. I asked the driver why they randomly stop at cars and not at the designated shuttle drops and he said nothing response. It was also 18 minutes between shuttles on a Monday at 11am. I have skies everywhere you can think of and have never paid for parking in a regular lot. VIP is understandable or if the lot were at capacity but for regular parking it is a joke. We proceeded to take my 5 year old up the beginner Link chair and it has no safety bar. Ridiculous for a beginner chair especially after gouging people for parking. There was no one at the RFI pass check gates to help my 5 year old get through the gate. The reader is a chest height for an adult and I had to unzip his jacket find his pass and hold it up to the reader all while to lift ops looked on on continued to scrape snow. Getting on the chair was more of the same, no attempt to help load a 5 year old with no poles. After 2 runs we went to the Moonbeam express loft and same story. Lift ops could care less about families with kids. We skied 2 runs and took a break at the moonbeam lodge. This is a joke of a lodge with barely any seating. Currently I am writing this review sitting in the upstairs patio in the snow with my 5 year old while the older kids and wife ski. I have been to Solitude many times in the past and didn’t experience anything like this. Of course back then I was single and not skiing with family. We skied Deer Valley on Friday and Saturday and the level of service between the two are indescribable. We planned to ski two more days at Solitude and Brighton but will go back to Deer Valley. If you are an Ikon pass holder with family don’t waste your time or money here. I’m sorry I did and won’t ever bother coming back even though this WAS my favorite ski area in Utah.
