Reviews for Snowbasin
A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
I skied at Snowbasin 25 times in 2022. It became my new favorite mountain. The terrain is diverse, the snow is consistently soft, the groomed runs are well maintained, lifts are well laid out, the upper mountain has spectacular scenery, parking is easy, season passes are affordable, mountain is well managed, restaurants are clean, comfortable and inviting, and access from Ogden is only 20-30 minutes. The off piste and double black runs are incredible, try Lone Tree off Strawberry lift. For cruisers, enjoy 10 minute laps off Middle Bowl lift with six options. To simulate the 2002 Olympic downhill, jump on JP lift and head for Wildflower and Grizzly downhill. I love the local vibe. Families and friends sit at the base area enjoying small barbecues or do tailgate parties. ... Full Review
I love this place. Best food I’ve ever had at a lodge and in general. There where challenging runs that I had so much fun with and great view. So many options of lifts and always a way to get down. Loved Grizzly and black diamond runs. ... Full Review
We have had an extremely poor experience with the ski lessons this year. My family and daughter have loved to ski here the last few years and we decided to put our daughter in lessons to learn a little more about form. The ski instructor was incredibly degrading and unkind to my child continuously. I’ve never experienced anything like it and I am so sad that my child went through this. The instructor complained about her in front of the other children and parents, she yelled at her for falling and crashing on different occasions. The most shocking part was the complete absence of any encouragement and patience for kids. My daughter started to get stomach aches and cry about going skiing which broke my heart. We contacted the director of the program and he defended his coach, stating that our daughter was placed in the wrong class. That was besides the point, even if the coach was terrible at coaching skiing - she could have at least treated us with respect. However, it was evident from the treatment of the ski director that this type of attitude and treatment was commonplace in their program. I am disgusted. We want to warn any other parents to watch your child in these lessons and be cautious of mistreatment by adults.... Full Review
I've skied the "Basin" since the mid 1960s. I now live in Colorado, but I prefer skiing Snow Basin. The terrain is varied, the powder days are wonderful. I really enjoy the beauty of the cliffs, skiing trees, bowls and trails. The areas above the timberline are terrific. The buildings were renovated for the Olympics and are high quality and add to the ambiance of a ski trip. Ticket prices are reasonable, parking is easy. I'll continue to be back to the Basin as long as I ski. ... Full Review
This is really my favorite Utah ski resort, it's absolutely beautiful and has a pretty good staff. I love the gondolas and the clean beautiful bathrooms. I also think that in general the ski school is much better here than at other resorts.... Full Review
Great parking compared to the cottonwoods. ... Full Review
This area is spectacular and in my opinion has nicer facilities than many other areas nearby or in Colorado. Because it is very scenic, usually uncrowded, has good snow and bowl skiing, and because the facilities are world class; this is my favorite ski area.

We love skiing Snowbasin and have had season passes for a few years now. (Maybe I shouldn't write a glowing review, as I love the fact that the only time we wait in line is when we are waiting for them to open the gondola in the morning.:) ... Full Review
This is Wes Welch at Atomic Chalet Bed & Breakfast in Huntsville. For the record, I did not write the poor review in Nov/19. I ski at Basin almost daily would like to make it clear that I love everything about the place and the people there. Many people know me there and I do not want any confusion. Please look us up if your looking for lodging nearby Snowbasin. thanks wes... Full Review
To be right upfront Snowbasin is my home resort, it is very close to my home and I get a season pass here most years. I have also skied extensively all over Europe and the US so I am no stranger to how a good resort operates. First off this is hardly a family friendly place unless you want your kids to grow up like the trash the will be sitting next to in the gondola. They are atrocious they either smell like pot, chew, alcohol or the last group of teens that rode up that hasn’t showered for a week. I know it’s hard to do but they need cleaned and dried out once in a while. The language on the gondola is not kid friendly either. The main problem is their price is so cheap that it is where all the young people go because the season pass cost next to nothing. I say double your price and get rid of some of the scum. They are also always shutting down lifts when traffic is light. I paid full price for my ticket I should get to ski the whole mountain. Worst part is if they start to get good snow rather than stay on top of the avalanche control they just shut down the best powder runs. It’s unreal! The better the snow the more often they shut stuff off. All the good resorts have plans in place so this does not happen. Very frustrating to get up thinking your going to have a epic powder day only to find out you can’t get to the powder. Common use those cannons and keep our lifts open. I know some of these thing the resort has limited control over but its like they don’t care or even try to fix the issues. Last the don’t have chips so every time you get on a lift you have to pull out your pass for them to scan it or leave it out and risk loosing it on the way down and have to pay boatloads to replace it. Get with the times Snowbasin. Super aggravating I would not be negative but the bad far outweighs the good. Wish I had a cottonwoods type ski resort close enough to use. ... Full Review
