1/31/17 The resort website claimed “Our team of snowmakers have been at it all last night and that beautiful snow just keeps coming and coming. The trails are in great condition and have groomed out nicely” additionally the homepage on whitetails website also claimed to have 3-6 inches of beautiful snow. This is so far from the truth, these were by far the worst conditions I have skied on in the past 3 years. For a resort to claim they have trails in great condition that are groomed out nicely is sad because the trails were in horrendous shape and even dangerous as grass and mud was exposed on a number of open trails with large rocks covering many areas making the slope truly unsafe. Also whoever groomed these slopes needs a true lesson on grooming as the trails were like riding scaled down moguls, they were just completely uneven. If great condition consist of packed down snow on top of packed down with horrible grooming this is the resort for you, the beginner trails and some of the intermediates were extremely thick packed down uneven surfaces and stopped you almost dead in your tracks at points and it turned into a cross country ski day. The black diamond trails were by far the highlight of the resort as they were the only trails that had fair quality grooming and soft powdery condition as they claimed on the site, but unfortunately there lacked proper signs and for one unfortunate skier who ventured down a black that wasn’t labeled as having moguls he wound up carted off the mountain by ski patrol injuring his leg badly. On top of that the staff was extremely unsure of minor details and small aspects of the resort and seemed clueless when asked simple question as to where the lockers were, how much did they cost for example. The cafeteria was extremely overpriced 8.67 for two Gatorades, 6 bucks for a slice of pizza. I’m not a negative person but there’s truly not much positive to say about this place there website fails to provide accurate reporting of the conditions, the staff is unfamiliar with basic details, and the resort is sadly overpriced for the value to the customer. Sorry to those staff members who work hard and are dedicated but the whole operation needs more people like you and an overall of the entire grounds and day to day workings.
