Whitetail, in general, draws a large crowd due to it's convenient proximity to several mid-Atlantic cities; however, does not have the infrastructure to support the volumes of people it is willing to accept. Archaic rental retrieval processes leave dissatisfied skiers/boarders waiting in lines that wrap around buildings (I've heard up to two hours). Two converging lift lines at the base create a giant cluster of people not knowing where they should go. A centralized location for food at the base creates more lines and cluster. A mid mountain (where the green and blue runs converge) or summit dining option would significantly address the clustering and spread people around. I will say that the staff I encountered was absolutely exceptional.
The really applaud the layout of the mountain and how it's separated between beginner, intermediate, and expert. It does keep lifts moving along with lift staff organizing the front. Grooming quality was sub-par, one of the intermediate trails we continued to avoid because there were golfball sized pieces that covered the mountain. Runs were scraped off by 2-3 pm on a Saturday.
I come in with a more strict review because this is an Epic owned mountain and it's disappointing to see the lack of effort put into an opportunity to convert mid-Atlantic skiers into Epic pass holders. ... Full Review

Went here with a few friends, two of which rented skis. After waiting for 45 minutes to get our tickets, our friends waited another 2.5 hours to get their rentals. Staff is rude as well from personal experience. There is a decent variety of trails here and they are well maintained.... Full Review

Most vertical within two hours. They work very hard to keep whole mountain open, but they like to advertise packed powder even when it's not. Today was powder and they got lucky with snow all day instead of rain so conditions held for most of the day. The mountain needs longer runs, for its size. A lot of the blues are straight down, and although wide, are not very long. If they found away to get a cruiser trail around the mountain or a way to join all the summits together it would make the mountain seem more expansive and thus work the money they charge. Not bar or alcohol options due to being in a dry county.... Full Review

Whitetail only has two main lifts unless you want to go back side, the other lift on the back side usually isn't to busy. Don't go on a Saturday!! Instructors not wearing helmets teaching children who the kids will look up to. I was warned by many fellow skiers but I couldn't imagine it would be this bad. They have very limited room for seating, which is taken very quickly by people with there laptops. Give you an idea, we thought we would grab a pizza to be in and back at the slopes, wrong. It was 75 minutes wait for a large pizza, there goes two hours of your ski time. When we decided to leave, we waited for 25 minutes for a shuttle, then finally a gentleman with a black whitetail jacket come by and we asked him where the shuttle was, he told us they were not running at the moment. What? We were told they run ever 5 to 10 minutes. It was 4:30pm? when just about everyone is switching over from day to night skiing, all 40 of us started walking to vehicles talking under there breath because of our children. My goal this year is to ski all the ski resorts in Pennsylvania this year. Whitetail is number 7 and last on my list. Only good side of the day were there employees, they were always pleasant and very helpful!! They need to fix the helmet for instructors though, kids always look up to there teachers. ... Full Review
