OnTheSnow.com’s visitors and app users have chosen Wolf Creek as the best small ski area in North America in its annual Visitors’ Choice Awards for the 2025-2026 season. OnTheSnow’s users, who take millions of destination ski trips each winter, rated and reviewed the resorts they visit for characteristics such as terrain, après-ski, family friendliness, terrain parks, and more. Wolf Creek was rated the num. 1 small ski area.
Wolf Creek is one of the snowiest ski resorts in Colorado, annually receiving more than 400 inches of snow on average. While it doesn’t have the acreage and vertical of Colorado’s largest resorts, it still boasts a bountiful 1,600 acres of skiable terrain and 1,604 feet of vertical drop. Highlights include tons of tree skiing, chutes, bowls, ridges, steeps, and everything in between. All told Wolf Creek has 133 named runs and 42 miles of trails.
Wolf Creek Reviews From OnTheSnow Users
“Wolf Creek is worth the adventure of getting there. It has never disappointed even when the snow is light. Hands down my favorite resort in North America!” – Joe
“Wolf Creek may be the world capitol of tree skiing. The trees are far apart, you can go anywhere, any direction, (as long as you can handle double-black diamond) and not get stuck in thickets, not end up outside the ski area. Total freedom, and of course the legendary powder.” – David
“So much ungroomed goodness. Yet, enough groomers to satisfy. Been skiing here for about 30 years. I’ve been to the big, ritzy mountains, but, my favorite place to ski is Wolf Creek.” – Graden
