If you don't have your shoving shoes on, war paint at the ready, and are not prepared to ollie over loose skis and entire families, you're not gonna have a good time. Mountain Creek is a meme resort with an unbelievable terrain park and that's why I am in love with it. I had a season pass here for the 19/20 season. I did not get one this season (opting instead for a SKI3 pass) because I, an 18-year-old NYC park rat, was a little worried about contracting diseases here even before COVID-19. Liftlines are like driving in traffic, if you try hard enough, you can merge anywhere! I have nothing but good things to say about the experience once you get off the south quad, I have no idea how the park crew does it. Climate change should be wiping this place off the map, but through diligent snowmaking and relentless feature-shaping and reshaping, they've managed something truly special. 7/10 seasons you almost never see snow on the ground, daytime temps are so high that every day rides like spring which is absolutely perfect for park riding. Rails and jibs are maintained beautifully, and I have progressed my riding more at this park than anywhere else. Other than that, the mountain itself is great for beginners, if you're looking for an all-mtn experience in NJ you're out of your mind. VERNON PEAK IS THE PLACE FOR FAMILIES, if you come to south peak with the kiddos, they count as features!... Full Review

The management should be embarrassed and ashamed. The lines at Vernon were 30 mins. Regardless of volumes, they don't open the chair lift on weekdays. People on the lines are packed together with many not wearing masks. How can they say you'll have a great time if you spend 3/4 of your time on the lift line? If you spend a day/6 hour there, maybe you'd get in 6 runs. There were also very few ski patrols out. I saw at least four people trying to walk down the mountain and no help forthcoming for them.... Probably the best conditions in many years but Mountain Creek should be embarrassed with the way they manage the resort. At opening there was only the gondola opened to get to the top of north. They never opened the triple chair all day. They waited to open Granite at 11:30 and then south at 12:30. I don’t feel they limited capacity and there was no staff monitoring and no social distancing. Lines were horrible at north and then packed on south. Don’t understand why the entire resort isn’t opened at 9:00 at opening. They need to do much better. ... Full Review

I visited Mountain creek with my family on Jan 10th 2021 and had a very pleasant experience. It was my 4 year old daughter's first time trying skiing. Marcus B. assisted us with getting rentals and went above and beyond to give us a seamless experience. It is very family friendly and great for beginners & intermediates (I am not an advanced skiier so I cannot speak beyond that). We will definitely be back... Full Review

Mountain Creek This is not hyperbole: MC is absolutely one of my favorite mountains in the entire world, and I have skiied Switzerland, France, Chile, Argentina, Japan, California, Quebec, and Colorado. I grew up skiing here when it was Vernon Valley Great Gorge, and have incredible memories of the trails from when I was a kid. I was shockingly disappointed with every other mountain I skiied in the region, including Hunter, Windham, Jiminy, and Catamount. One could say this is rose colored memories, but the reality is that it still holds pretty much true. There are a few reasons for this, that contrasts with nearly every other skiier's opinion on MC. 1. I am a late riser, like seriously late riser. I am not one of those skiiers at the first lift. In fact, I most often am tight to make it by the last lift. MC solves this problem, in spades. It has the most night skiing in the East - probably the most night skiing in the US. I think there is one mountain in Quebec that takes the crown for that title in North America. The entire mountain is lit for night skiing. There is nothing comprable anywhere else in America. Top to bottom. 2 miles of lateral terrain, 1000' of vertical. The runs are long and never get boring. Windham has 5 lit trails. It's a joke. Catamount has lighting. The mountain is tiny - literally 1/5 the size of MC. To get night skiing of any quality, you have to go to Bolton in Vermont, 6 hours away and 30 degrees colder. There is just no comparison. 2. It is an hour and a half from anywhere in NYC. It is insane how close it is. Nothing else compares. 3. The crowds have never been an issue. Not at all. Why? Because I ski at night. The tickets are dirt cheap - you can get 7 or 8 hours of skiing, starting at 2 or 3 PM, for $35 or $39. You can stop in the beautiful new lodges and have a beer and decent dinner for a break, then go out and shred a few more runs. What better a way to spend a weekend afternoon and evening? Some people say the conditions decline as things get skiied off. This can be true, but there is really a chance of ice anywhere in the east. And around the world, well, conditions are variable everywhere. If you can ski the ice, you can ski anything. It is good training. But the reality is that this is where MC's location is an additional benefit. Because it is so far south, it is rarely very cold at night. And if you time it right, you can pick a decently mild evening after a snowfall or a strech of good snowmaking weather, and you will be plenty comfortable. 4. I am an intermediate skier, for life. I am not jumping into couloirs or over rocks. So the thrill for me is not deep powder or steeps, but rather cruising along gleefully in the outdoors, fresh wind in my face, and a beautiful view in the distance. I wouldn't trade my experiences in the Alps or Patagonia, but MC can start you off to get you there, and keep you coming back for more, because it is convenient, very affordable, and actually a damn good skiing experience. ... Honestly the most disgusting customer service I have ever seen in my life. The establishment is filthy and they operate with the understanding that they are always right. No one will ever listen to you, try to help or ensure that they are operating up-to-par. I have lived next to Mt Creek for 30 years and it gets worse and worse. Drive a little farther and get what you pay for. ... Full Review
