A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
Fun mountain, I just wish there was more black terrain, especially steep terrain, as goosebumps is your only option for expert terrain that isn’t a glade.... Full Review
Both my husband and my 6 year old children were hit from the back skiing down the mountain. The lines were very long. The conditions were great. They make a lot of snow and they were groomed nicely, but why aren't all the trails open? It is very crowded at the lifts and on the trails.... Full Review
Went during the week on the warmest day of the winter (60's) and had a blast! Despite the warm temps there was plenty of snow with soft spring conditions. Very few people so the lift lines were nonexistent. Other than a short delay on one of the lifts first thing in the morning, lifts operated smoothly with minimal stops. Definitely plan on going back! ... Full Review
We skied on Thursday during february school break. We booked with some trepidation because of the likelihood of long lift lines and questionable masking we've seen elsewhere. Overall, our concerns were mostly unfounded. The lots were full, but we did manage to find parking close to the base lodge, so we can't comment on shuttles. Our electronic ticket loading worked with our existing Vail cards, so we went right to the lift once our gear was on. The line wasn't bad - everyone was wearing masks and groups are separated into rows spread out 6ft. Big signs showing proper mask wearing - can't have your nose exposed and no valves/perforations, etc. All good and better than others! Attendants at the high speed lifts did a better job keeping the lines moving than at the triple and the beginner lifts, but there weren't so many people that it was an issue.
Conditions were excellent - trails were groomed and it was great for experienced adults and our intermediate kids and beginners.
The Summit Lodge was open only for restroom use. At the base, we didn't stop in for food but did one restroom break and they were clean and orderly. Lots of soap available and hand sanitizer, too.
I know people express a lot of frustration about the Covid restrictions, but I think we have to have some grace with the resorts and their staff. It's hard to deal with Joe-Q-Public and enforce rules where previously there had been none. I've had the feeling the resorts are all on a learning curve but trying to balance staying open, staying profitable, with the various state regulations and still getting people to fork over $$$$ to ski. I don't mind a little inconvenience if I get to ski with my family. I don't mind paying a little extra this year if we can afford it. Everyone is struggling in some way and local businesses need local support now more than ever. ... Full Review
It's February 2021 and Sunapee still doesn't have it's act together concerning Covid-19. I've skied 4 weekdays in the last 2 weeks and I can't count how many people in the lift lines were either not wearing a mask, not wearing a mask correctly or not wearing a proper mask. Someone would have to be brain dead at this point not to know what is safe and what is not. No excuses. Masks with breathing holes in them and no additional mask layers are obviously not safe. Not wearing your mask over your nose is not safe. I'll grant that it is sometimes difficult to know if your nose is covered or not. Only one time did I see a patroller walking the lift line and reminding people about proper precautions. But someone without a mask, with a mask that is too thin or a mask with breathing holes should not be allowed to continue skiing. They should be told to get out of line and come back with proper protection. I was told by one off duty patroller that that is the policy but I've yet to see it happen. One time I actually saw a group of guys vaping in line and exhaling a cloud that drifted over others in line. They were allowed to continue skiing. Come on Vail. Stop fooling around and protect your guests and your employees the way you claim to be doing. ... Full Review
Was very excited to ski with my 2 sons on 12/23. Got there early, 1st parking lot. Easy ticketing pick-up. End of good experience. Headed up triple, long line to be expected, 9:15. Headed to sun bowl quad, lift line was edging up lower cataract by quite a bit, pretty dangerous. No spacing or organization. Lift stopped 3 times. In excess of 30 minutes in line before 10:00. Took 1 run down to other quad, just as bad. Sadly left after 1 1/4 runs. My favorite trails of Lynx, and other 2 next to it were complete moguls. Usually split moguls and not. Always loved Sunapee and thought their grooming was the best in New England. Well, not so much. Very gracious in refunding our tickets although so bummed we didn't get our day in. Upon leaving, around 11:00, all 4 parking lots were full & tickets sales are limited??? Hard to believe. Probably won't be back. Left a very bad taste.... Full Review
Out family went on 12/23/20. It was horrible. As others mentioned, the lift lines were horrible, Long waits. The conditions of the couple trails
that were open were lousy. Even unsafe. No info. at resort at what trails were open/ closed. No trail maps. I saw many children & newer skiers panicking because no one told them there were no beginner or intermediate safe trails down. Literally only a couple trails open. So much for reservations it was was too full for what was open. All parking lots full, shuttle buses very slow. No assistance at lift loading. Horrible. And we love Sunapee. They better get their act together........ Full Review
Yea, it was pretty rough today Just 2 trails from the summit and 1 in the Sun Bowl. The lift lines aren't managed very well. The Sun Bowl quad was acting up and at one point the lift line was 500+ feet long on both sides. They eventually allowed people to ski down the access road to get out which just moved the line to the Summit Quad. I get it that they're short 25%-35% short on uphill lift capacity, but they clearly aren't seriously trying to control crowds with the reservation system. We were 6 runs and done because the lift lines were just to long. ... Full Review
We love Sunapee, but today, 12/23, was a huge disappointment. Too crowded, reservations are joke, no 6ft apart in disorganized lines. The trails were good, but a 30 minute freezing in line was not worth 7 minutes of skiing. We left at noon and probably will not return although we have EpicPass and Sunapee was our number one choice.... Full Review
