Jiminy Peak was my favorite Berkshire ski mountain. I went to college in Amherst, and JP was an easy hour and a half drive from campus. A bit further away than Berskhire East (45 minutes from campus to slopes), JP had generally better conditions, a higher vertical and more varied terrain. As a skier who grew up skiing mainly in Vermont and upstate NY, JP is the only Berkshire mountain that is similar to that. What I liked is that I could go to JP either for the day or overnight and stay at The Country Inn (like a lot of the VT mountains, JP is it's own self-contained on-site resort) and then head up into southern Vermont for the rest of the weekend.
