I enjoyed my visit but not a real skier’s mountain. Disappointing terrain and powder only lasts a day after a storm because it gets too much sun (hints the name) and makes it hard snow. ... Full Review

Sun Valley is a world class resort! The mountain is awesome, but so is the town! All the people, locals and tourists, are super friendly and welcoming. Gorgeous scenery and the best lodges of any resort we have been. ... Full Review

I’ve skied all over the world and everything at Sun Valley and Ketchum is first class. Great “real” town (not fake ski village) with really good restaurants and lots going on. Skiing is excellent on Baldy but it’s not a beginners’ mountain. It’s a skiers mountain with a huge vertical drop and tough terrain that is perfect for level 6 or higher skiers. Snowmaking is prevalent to make up for the historical early season lack of snow (although this year the snow was great). Novices will better enjoy Dollar Mtn. but there isn’t much terrain diversity or vertical on Dollar. But for families there is a ton to do other than ski: tubing, ice skating, sleigh rides, snowshoeing, sledding, and a free bus service that takes you anywhere around Ketchum and Sun Valley. Bottom line: our entire experience was simply first class. Special note on the Sun Valley Ski School - It’s on the expensive side, but worth it. Really professional and friendly staff and an excellent program for kids. Our 8 and 10 year-olds LOVED their experience with Sun Valley Snow Sports at Dollar Mtn. ... Full Review

Have always wanted to ski Sun Valley. I think I just came too early in their season. More snowmaking on open trails than I've ever experienced this far into the season in the Rockies. It looks like this place would be a blast to ski with good coverage, but this visit was subpar. ... Full Review

I live less than a minute from Pebble Creek Ski Area, but given the choice of lower rates, no travel and 90 min lift lines we spend our time at Sun Valley. Great terrain and we get more vertical ft in a day than you can get in a month standing in line at Pebble. Honor student rates make it affordable. I’ve skied all the Utah resorts- and most in Canada- I have never skied a better hill with better on the snow time. I LOVE skiing sun valley. The powder gets skied out quickly, so then you have to turn to lots of vertices feet on groomed runs- aw gee, what a sacrifice - NOT. Wish I was closer than 2 hours, but the drive is certainly worth it. ... Full Review

I love Sun Valley because of its history - you can feel it when your there. On a good year the groomers are the best on earth, and the back side is challenging but fun. The bad years are still ok, or they would be if it wasn’t so expensive for everything, or if the services were better. There is a lot of miscommunication among staff and management. And they use a LOT of dated systems from ticketing, to ski rentals. I feel bad for the staff because their sales clients and IT infrastructure seem particularly, uhm, marginal. ... Full Review

Haven’t Skied Sun VALLEY since high school. I skied this last Saturday, December 22 parl of the lifts were shut down, the snow was skied out. Not enough snow! And I still had to pay full price. The lodges were beautiful it was great to be on the hill. But, Vegetation was showing through the snow. That’s hard on equipment ... Full Review

Last time I skied Sun Valley it was free! We played the Sun Valley Suns in a hockey tournament for a weekend in March of 2006 and we got free lodging at the base of Bald Mountain, free beer and liquor at Whiskey Jacques (before it burned down), free food and free lift tickets and $100 spending cash if we didn’t fight in the game. This was all because we put a team together and drove out from Portland to play a brutal full contact couple of games against the Suns which included players losing teeth, broken nose, broken jaw, broken clavical, etc. All I remember is the skiing was fantastic. I’m no expert, but first run was straight to the top and down the black diamond mogul run up there which I nailed. The whole day was like that. Never fell and nailed all the blacks. I remember the Warm Springs side being fun as well. Now that we live here in Idaho, I need to go back for a comparable experience.... Full Review
