Poor customer service; insane parking lot problems

Full review

I have skied in over 100 resorts in my 50 years on the slopes, from Whistler to Jackson to Europe to South America, and I have never had the type of experience I had today while trying to return to my car. We parked (on Deer Valley property) at an overflow lot and used the shuttle to get to Jordanelle Gondola. Enjoyed a nice day. At 4:00, we sat down to have an apres ski drink at the main lodge, and asked our server when the last shuttle to overflow parking would be. We were then informed that there was no shuttle back to overflow, and we would have to ski back. Hurriedly grabbing our gear, we made it through the corral area to the lift, only to be informed that we were not allowed to board (it was 4:20, said closing lift time was 4:30, and the lift line entrance was open). So off to customer service, where we were rather rudely told that we would have to call a taxi to get back to our car. Which was in a Deer Valley parking lot. When we pointed out the lack of information regarding this, we were instructed to look at the trail map, where, according to customer service, this was explained. Dutifully I consulted the trail map, and upon finding no such information anywhere, asked customer service where on the map this important information was. The response? “It tells you when the lifts close.” Yes, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the shuttle we took in the morning would no longer be available in the afternoon. So, if you want to spend another $20 on top of $170 daily lift ticket, then this is the place for you. I, however, will no longer be a “guest” at Deer Valley, and I will encourage all my ski friends (quite a large group) to avoid Deer Valley in the future.
