Reviews for Montage Mountain
A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
Montage used to be good, this place went downhill shortly before covid. This place is in dire need of a good general manager and mountain manager. Some one who has worked in the industry for years and knows how to run a mountain. If you want to go snow tubing and sit in the bar, this is your place, if you are a true skiier/snowboarder go elsewhere. ... Full Review
Montage is affordable($40 including rentals on weekdays) and there are rarely lift lines. It is just a little bit further than the usual places for Philadelphians and New Yorkers so it keeps the crowd down. 1000’ if vertical is awesome and it is on interesting runs, not just straight down like some in the area. Beginner, intermediate and expert trails are separated and trails don’t generally cross so you avoid skiing with less skilled skiers. The lodge was redone after Covid and is nice but the restaurant is awesome. Good local beers and delicious reasonably priced meals. I am a season holder and just love this place... Full Review

we got tot he resort an hour early as recommended , the lines were at least 2 hours long for rentals, we missed our lessons, the snow tubing lines were very long, people were going over the hill at the end of the snow tubing - very dangerous, no staff at the bottom of the hill for safety - spent all day on lines instead of doing any activity $ 450 later , nothing but long lines to show for it . Extremely disappointed ... Full Review
This is my local (home) mountain and I love it here. There are some great runs. Most are on the shorter side, but there are 2 top to bottom runs that start off blue and end black: Raceway and Fast Track. They are really long and great fun. They have 3 separate areas: green, blue and black. That's really nice. This past weekend the weather was clear and cold, and the snow was awesome. It had stiffened up overnight, but you just knew it was all fresh blown. They do a great job taking care of the trails here. Some of the best snow making I have ever seen and they really handled the whole COVID situation well. They opened an entirely new outdoor food court complete with private tents for rent and firepits. It is great. The only downside is the base elevation, it's low, so the weather is wormer here than at other places. That and the proximity to the NY/NJ border. We get a lot of 'out of towners' on weekends. If you come, get your pass online, show up early and go straight to the bowl (that's where the blacks are). By the time the crowds show up, you'll be ready for a break.... Full Review
Great place for local kids to ski. Trails are wide which is great for our grandkids ... Full Review
Rude Bulling Staff members are ok with mocking, making fun and verbal abuse on there clients. ... Full Review
It is too costly for the amount of trails open and for some of the rude staff running the lift chairs. They don’t slow it down if it seems like you are struggling. It’s a shame that everything’s changed.... Full Review
In my opinion Montage compares very favorably with other PA ski areas. You cannot beat the weekday prices, which even include rentals if you need them. It was not crowded which was very nice. College day was a interesting time with quite the entertaining crowd. The vibe was very laid-back, unlike Blue Mountain and Camelback. The staff were friendly. There is a good layout of trails and a very nice variety, ranging from some nice and easy greens and blues, including some cool runs looping through the trees, to White Lightning, which I do believe them that it is legitimately one of the steepest slops in the east, as advertised. Now on the downside the lifts are truly by no means speedy but I think the lack of lines helps make up for it, and I don't think you really need to be in too big a hurry at Montage Mountain. If you go all the way from the top to the bottom there is a pretty long run and respectable vertical drop, but it does take a hot minute to get back up all the way to the top if you do that. Unless you are from the Scranton area it is probably a half hour or so farther than some larger ski areas but in my opinion it was worth the extra drive for a nice change of pace. Being a little farther north than some other PA areas you also may have somewhat more favorable skiing weather.... Full Review
