Excellent resort for the family. Wonderful resort to learn or just have a fun day skiing. The Summit is an excellent restaurant to relax after a day of skiing. Highly recommend.
Great for Family & Beginners
Expert skiers may be bored

My wife and 4 children have been skiing/snowboarding here for about 7 years. All of my kids learned here. The ski school is great and so is the mountain. The mountain is small for expert skiers who are used to vermont sized trails but even experts can enjoy themselves. The lodge is brand new. Its beautiful and the food is awesome and fairly priced. The bar has a great vibe and the drinks are inexpensive. My kids range from 8-15 years old and they all love it. We have all been to larger mountains and they all still love ski big bear the best overall. My 15 year old spends the whole day in their great terrain park and he loves it. My other 3 children spend the day on all of the trails. Even tho its a smaller mountain its great for beginners and experienced skiers in my opinion. The longest run is about 2 miles long which is good enough for us. This is the perfect place for families.
Great for families with children and great terrain park.
Not big enough mountain for expert skiers.

Don't go unless you live there and you could walk in to the resort. There is no enoughparking There is no police or traffic control personal you will spend your whole day in traffic going up and going down the mountain

Great place if you own there. Take priority to home owners. Took me almost 2 hours to get food, while two sets of property owners came and gone. WAY to much money for the hill there. Gave it a try but was not impressed with price or hills. I will say they have a nice lodge.
Not busy on weekend

My wife and I along with our 3 kids (5, 7 & 9 y/o) always have a great time. My kids all learned how to ski here. Great lodge with friendly staff, Bar is great and very reasonably priced for adult beverages. Food is pricey but so is it at any resort so not really a ding. We bring a cooler full of bottles of water and lunch and keep it along with each ones boot bag in the little cubby holes they have spread around the lodge. I love this about the place, most of the other resorts you have to either leave them outside or on the floor in locker room. Big Bear is good enough to have these spaces all over for you to put your things. And since they are not locked you could run the risk of theft but never seems to be an issue here. I would highly recommend this place for young kids and early skiers. If your advanced then this will bore you quickly. Still a fun getaway. And the community its in you kind find houses for rent for weekends, long weekends and week. If you staying at Woodloch Pines, Woodloch Springs or Hideout you get a 15% discount on lift tickets &/or rentals.
Friendly staff, Avg price lift tickets, Short lift lines
Food is expensive (but so is everyones),

On sat 01/17/2015 Me and my husband had very great time in Big bear mountain. We went for skying there for first time beginner lessons. I was bad in sports. Allian was great person there taught me skying from scratch.. I was really afraid and he did take out my fear out of me and I did it! Was great we spent there and my husband too. Please go and have training with Allian if you are first time beginner in skying.. Enjoy guys!!!!
