I have had some truly epic days here over the last 5 years. However, I have also had some of the worst ski days of my life as well. This is not a mountain that someone should ever travel to for vacation unless they are willing to put up with the possibility of severe weather unlike anything you have ever experienced on a ski area. In order to really appreciate this place you have to buy a pass and live near by on the off chance that there might be one of those decent days. The terrain is okay especially when the summit is open (rarely) and the back side is open (very rarely). The wind and weather completely rule this mountain. You can get 100mph winds on top followed by a week of rain followed by a foot of powder. Then repeat. You just never know. One side of a run might have 18" of new snow and the other side might have blue ice and lava rock. Aside from the weather which they can't control I must say that the mountain is one of the most poorly run operations I have come across in all my years of skiing. They put so little effort into this place that its pathetic. The lodges are falling apart, the bathrooms are a joke and the food is terrible. Lines are often very long and poorly manged. Parking can be very difficult. The employees are often surly and the lifts are often broken. But I come to ski, not to be pampered. If I was spending a fortune on a ski vacation for my family I would choose somewhere else.
