I flew across the country to ride the iconic Mnt bachelor that is advertised on the internet. I was severely disappointed to learn that the only lift that takes you to the top is almost always closed. And also many of their other lifts were closed. It seems the better the conditions are, the more lifts they closed. Without the summit lift, the resort is less than half of the size they advertise. I felt like I should have gotten half my money back, since they falsely advertised the size of the resort. So don’t be fooled by the videos you see online as it is highly unlikely you will get to ride the top which is most of their terrain. And the lines were over 30 min on Friday and Saturday. I will not be going back to Oregon to ride as all the resorts are outdated and poorly maintained.
Great variety of terrain.
Lifts are slow and lines are long. Summit lift is rarely open.

I feel like Mt. Bachelor gets overlooked for some of the West's other resorts, when it's actually one of the largest ski resorts in North America. So much terrain, very respectable vertical, and skiing around the entire mountain. Can't beat spring skiing here considering it's one of the last ski resorts to close for the season.
Huge mountain for the Pacific Northwest, long season, great apres

Should easily be a 4 star hill owing to the terrain, but parent company Powdr has mismanaged this place so horribly it’s not worth the trip. “360 degree skiing” is total BS as they spin the summit chair maybe 10 days a season. Other lifts are constantly on mechanical hold. Only 1 six pack that has been down more often than not it’s inaugural year. Barely any events, unless you count Subaru sponsored smug fests an event. Passes are outrageously priced compared to resorts of this size, and Powdr seems to be basing their strategy on purposefully alienating locals to make room for more families from California.

Mount Bachelor is a good ski area. It is above average, maybe even significantly above average for all ski areas. However, for a large ski area with fast lifts, it is way below average for its class. The advertised vertical is rarely attainable because the summit is normally closed. So take that 3000’ vertical and take about 1/2 off of it. It also advertises “dry” snow. I’m not a snow snob as I am a pac NW skier, but the snow is about the same as Mount Hood and Mount Ashland. It is largely an intermediate area without a lot of topographical interest. No real “resort” base area either. It is, without a doubt, second in Oregon to MHM. It is absolutely not in a class with the big boy western resorts in Colorado, Utah, Sierra, canad, etc. not even close.
Normally uncrowded on northwest and outback slopes
Expensive, fog, wind, mediocre snow

The resort is very big. It has many beautiful runs. However if you are beginner, this is may maybe the best option for you. The staff is enormously friendly. They have people at almost every run. They call them “Host”. Those people are always ready to give you the best advice on which place is better at the time of the day. Also, the customer service in the Demo Shop was great. All the guys are very knowledgeable and ready to help. We got served by Tiernan who had the patience and knowledge for our best choice.
Lang and many runs
May be windy at higher elevation. Not many runs for beginners

got there early. electricity blew and all lifts cancelled. got there next day early. waited 50 minutes in the cold for the lift to go. no communication about what was going on. left lift and walked to another. 45 minutes later, got on lift. got back down 12 minutes later and faced the same lift line. went to ticket counter. got rebate for 1/2 day ($45) because only had 2 runs on first day.... this is a beautiful resort, but don't let the nice Oregonians running the place fool you. If you have ever bought a time share and regretted it.... you can experience that again. Four runs in two days after 6 hours driving here and an air bnb plus the tickets is not worth it. Not coming back and this was our first.
Great snow good parking
over booked short staffed rip off

Snow is rpic and people friendly. Need traffic control at lift lines, desperately. This is one thing they can fix.

I have been coming to Bachelor for 5 years and there is a clear decline in management over this time. More time than not it takes an hour+ to make the 20mi commute from Bend only to be met with 35min lift lines. The summit lift is RARELY open and it seems main chairs are under maintenance which further exacerbates the wait times. This year (2022) rather than fixing their efficiency they chose to offer a $70 upgrade to have an express pass to the already lofty $130 day pass for what this mountain has to offer. If you enjoy spending a lot of money to sit in line then this is the place for you.
Great terrain when the mountain is functioning at full capacity
Expensive. Poorly run.

The company that owns it just keeps taking away all of the positive things about Mt Bachelor and making it more and more expensive. This is NOT a resort for great runs, fabulous snow, or luxury type lodges. This is a locals place with marginal weather most of the time charging exorbitant prices.
Sometimes the snow is fun
TOO EXPENSIVE for what they offer

A great mountain when the conditions are great. When they aren’t great it is severely overpriced. Good customer service, but they are always finding new ways to charge for things. It really wants to be a destination resort, but it is the local skiers in Bend and western Oregon who show up – – which Corporate hasn’t really figured out yet. We go on ski trips to BC, Utah, Colorado, and this place has a far more local feel, which is why we still enjoy it and keep coming back
Some great back areas to explore if you know where to go
When half the mountain is closed it causes huge lines and mediocre terrain. Hoo Doo and Willamette Pass are better options under that scenario
