There is no better place to be than Taos as winter snowstorms roll in. The combination of Taos’ high desert setting, light, dry powder, leg-burning steeps, and immaculate groomers all make for an unmatched ski experience. Once the snow starts stacking up, it simply doesn’t get better than a powder day at Taos Ski Valley.
Legendary Powder Days Await At Taos Ski Valley
Tucked deep in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Taos is a place where snowstorms roll in cold and dry, leaving behind feather-light powder that stacks up beautifully across steeps, glades, bowls, and the resort’s famous hike-to terrain. Kick off your legendary powder day at Taos Ski Valley with a breakfast burrito from Bumps Market and a coffee from Black Diamond Espresso. Then get in a couple warm-up laps on Taos Ski Valley’s groomers before heading to West Basin Ridge for powder turns through pristine glades.

In between runs, make sure you get the lowdown from locals, who can tell you about their favorite secret stashes and let you know about rope drops. Spend the rest of your day shredding down unreal chutes, steep lines, and hike-to terrain off Kachina Peak.
For a truly one-of-a-kind Taos Ski Valley experience, upgrade your powder day with a pro guide from Ernie Blake Snowsport School, voted the no. 1 ski school in North America by USA Today. Your guide will show you every hidden stash and secret tree line, while giving you priority access to the lifts. Want to fine-tune your mechanics or take your skills to the next level? The Ernie Blake Snowsport School has a tailored experience for you, whether you’re an advanced skier, want to level up your skills, or are just starting out.
