A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
I've followed this area for a number of years and the investment and care taken to compete with the "big guys" is remarkable.

WVS has completed what I believe to be 2 million dollar upgrade and enlargement (2022) of their lodge. They have new snow making and a new piston bully 400 groomer. Next year hopefully the quad chair lift will be in place and open. While a small hill (500 ft vertical) with 20 trails they strive to keep you on the mountain. Most years they are the first or one of the first to open in upstate NY. Snow park is not in one place but scattered over the mountain. Trails are not crowded.

Great for our family, love this place. The Woods keep updating to make the experience great! The chalet atmosphere is awesome, always a live band and food specials that doesn't break the bank. The bar has great beer choices too. The staff everywhere are super friendly!

this is a fun spot to stop at. not high priced. all types of trails, good for new riders. not much of a pro shop. ok priced on the food and beer.

This resort has a bit of something for everyone, good programs for the kids, live music at the bar for parents, tubing for kids who get tired of skiing or boarding, or have finished lessons (great ski school!), and slopes ranging from beginner to expert. The learner's zone has a wonder carpet for kids who haven't made it to lift level yet. Lifties were very friendly and happy to slow down the lift for beginners. Chalet is small but homey and there is a lot of deck space to watch kids in the learning zone. Overall great experience!
They over charge for what they are a valley. Prices are what you'd expect at a real mountain. Snow making is ancient equipment. The terrain park is over crowded. To many features in such a small area. Features are never taken care of. Boxes have broken sliding surfaces. Jumps are small. For parks go some where else. The runs here are mainly flat for half the area then have a little down hill.
For my husband who is intermediate and myself a beginner, this is a wonderful choice. The beginner trails are not too hard. The bunny hill is gradual, and long enough to merit it's own chairlift which sure beats t-bars and rope tows.
The tails are consistently groomed and the facility is kept clean and neat. The food isn't bad either, with home made pies and cake daily.
Mid-week prices are very low and the hill is very laid back with plenty of room for skiers. Everyone is friendly. Employees are polite helpful and professional.
I was told by a friend to take my kids to Woods Valley and was not steered wrong. Very easy slopes for the kids. Trails seem longer than Snow Ridge. One very nice thing they've done is to place benches at the bottom and top of the main chair. The snowboarders seem to appreciate that they are not having to sit down on snow around the lifts and it was nice not to have them glogging up the tops of trails sitting on the snow. I wish my local areas - Dry Hill and Snow Ridge would catch on to this and do the same.
I wish more of the hill was lit for night skiing. Once the lights came on the amount of terrain was cut quite a bit.
Overall, a very nice place to take the kids - probably a good place to learn as well - just judging by the terrain and the special learning area that is nicely off to the side.
woods valley is a nice place for everyone. kids can go off with friends and the parents can sit in the chalet and watch. its a nice place
Woods Valley is just a great place to bring the family. Easy beginner slopes however, a little something for everyone. Its the kind of place that mom and dad can enjoy while the children can have fun with their friends.
