Good drinking scene around town
barely passable as a ski resort.

Full review

Hunter Mountain should barely be able to call themselves a ski resort. First -- their terrain park is bad. There is no progression, at all. It's always seemingly half open, and getting worse every year with climate change. It rains every third or fourth day in the winter, washing away any snow. They realistically get only 50" every winter, with weather that is too warm to make their own and rain that washes it all away anyways. There are no steeps (annapurna, but it's never open because they don't get sustained snowpack). It's one big, icy green. And an expensive one, at that. There were three deaths from January - March 2019, the last one being a man that fell and it was so icy he bruised his heart on the impact and passed. In short, if you like skiing or snowboarding and are in the northeast -- go to VT, or further upstate. Hunter doesn't have the weather or terrain to support being an actual ski resort. It's an ice rink with some slight pitch, and I suspect it won't be operational for many more years.
