What a gem of a place. Went here for first time this year after skiing multiple times at Boyne Mountain. Snow was unbelievably good. I had three of my kiddos take lessons and they were great. Food and drinks are good. Will absolutely be back next year and we will stay at the resort. Highly recommend!
Family friendly, great trails, good variety
More food options would be nice, but not complaint

There are a lot of choices in Michigan but we keep coming back to “The Highlands”. Highest vertical here in the Lp, most skiable/rideable acres. A bunch of parks, crew is very friendly in all areas of the resort. Plenty of non slope activities too. Take a look at the 2030 resort plan and you will understand why it rates so high
Great snow and is largest amount of skiable acres
Would like more food options but that is in plans

My husband and I bought Happiness passes to ski in January 2021 for 2 days. We were so looking forward to it, hadn't been to Boyne Highlands since our kids were young. While skiing on the Slot ski hill, a person came out of no where down the hill and cut my husband and I off, my ski went into a deep crevice, I flipped skies and boots over head and fell hard on my leg and back. When I stood up I was badly injured. I couldn't turn left down the rest of the hill. I am an intermediate skier and have been skiing for years. I Called skier services, to ask What to do if I wasn't able to walk or ski the next day, 1/23/21. The response I received from season pass office was sorry about your injury. The pass is good all season long. So when I was feeling better I could use the same happiness pass. We were going out of town and would not be back in town til April 2021. Obviously no skiing in April. I called Boyne again when I got home to ask again what to do about my Happiness pass. I was told I would need to speak with the ski patrol (Mike Longfellow) to make a report regarding my fall on the hill. I talked to Marcia she would leave a message for Mike to call me back. I called the following day, he had just left the building, the following day he was in a meeting. I called again asked for Mike, he was in a meeting. I continued to call until I reached him as time was flying by he would have to call me back. Mike called me back said he was going into a meeting to discuss my issue and would call me back. He called me back to say, did you tell anyone about who the skier was that made you fall, I told him I hardly saw him he was just gone. Mike said you won't be happy with the outcome. How did he know I got hurt at Boyne Highlands. I can't just make up a report,I told Mike I wish when I called skier services that day they would have told me to see the ski patrol, I certainly would have. Mike said, there is nothing he could do. I was out $80 times two as my husband stayed back with me on Saturday January 23, because I couldn't walk well or ski. I only asked that I could have a credit on my account to be used in 2021-2022 ski season. Instead my Gold card as they call it was now just a piece of Plastic to be recycled. Very disappointed.
Happy pass was easy to get
If you are injured on the hill, the correct action to take is not given

Nice Family resort. Plenty of winter activities to do when you are not on the slopes. Friendly workers, some that have been there forever. Awesome job operating in the COVID 19 timeframe. I felt completely safe
Largest area in Michigan which allows the crowds to spread out. Very friendly staff.
More food locations needed but are proposed

My husband and three kids just skied & snowboarded at Boyne Highlands with the Ikon pass from Dc 18-21. This used to be our favorite place to ski in Michigan, but I was deeply disappointed by the chaos and lack of COVID mask enforcement. Though we spent over $3000 on Ikon passes, we had to wait in line daily for 30-45 minutes to get day passes to Boyne in the cold next to people who were not wearing masks. This was wasting valuable time on the slops. We asked them to print our Ikon pass, which Ikon assures me they should have been able to do, but they stated they did not have the materials to do so. They also wouldn’t give us multi-day passes, which required that we stood in line daily. There were only about 10-12 benches to sit on and guests would just plop down at the table to eat unmasked, though it was a safety hazard. The heat lamps scarcely had propane, so were not working. They should have had a process or structure for this. Also, I only heard a lift operator ask once for people to put on their masks. Finally, one of the lifts even broke down for part of the day. The experience was so frustrating that we came home early.
Better elevation and runs than most in lower Michigan
Poor staffing, policy enforcement

My go too, 14 days every year, love the mid week Sunday-Thursday pass,
Staff at the shop, 4hrs from home, grooming
Fire rooms still not done? Limited menu at Slopeside

Highlands....Crummy website. Can’t find which lifts and which runs are open. No information on how much base, how much new snow. The old website required no navigation. All the info was right there. I haven’t even bothered looking at the Mountain site because it’s probably the same, not useful.

I stopped by Boyne Highlands for some night skiing in the middle of the week. About half, or so, of the runs are open for night skiing. The trails were in great shape and the runs were long, by Michigan standards. There were no crowds mid-week, so I was able to get a lot of runs in. The staff was very friendly. I look forward to visiting again.
Friendly Staff, Long Run, Good Vertical Drop for MI
